"After a month of traveling in Yunnan, I am back home and started to review my previous hotel experience. I started from Kunming and went to Xishuangbanna. Now I am on my third stop, Mangshi.
The main reason for choosing this hotel is that there is a pick-up service. Another reason is that the scenery seems to be better. It seems not too far from the ancient town. It is written as 7 or 8 kilometers (but it is actually far from the city, so I regret it a little). Another reason is that it is a four-star hotel. I want to see what a four-star hotel is like. Looking back at the hotel price, it is more than 290, but considering that it was May Day, it is normal. Now the price of this room is 263, which is not much of a price increase and is considered conscientious.
As soon as the plane landed at night, the driver of the hotel contacted us. After picking us up, he drove straight. We saw that the hotel was quite far away, and it seemed to take half an hour to drive. But slowly, we found that the street lights on the side of the road had a bad feeling in our hearts, because it was getting darker and darker. Under the street lights on the side of the road, there were flying insects hitting the lights. It was so crowded and lively. We thought it was over. This hotel would not be full of insects... As expected, when we arrived, the entrance of the high-end hotel was full of dead insects, the kind that can fly like big mosquitoes, all over the ground. After checking in with fear, when we walked to the building where we were staying, there was a stone on the dark road. My intuition told me that it was right. Sure enough, I stopped to look for a while, and it suddenly jumped. It was a toad! After that, we took a detour into the building and successfully returned to the room. After turning on the light, a flying insect came in, and then there were several more. I fell asleep at night with the sound of flying insects hitting each other, which was very frightening. It was not until the day that I discovered that the window screen had a hole, and a few of them leaked out. It seemed that their lifespan was only one night. They were all dead when I looked during the day.
Oh, I forgot to mention that this hotel was the first one I stayed in that provided not only breakfast but also lunch. Although I didn’t eat much, it was quite special.
In short, this hotel has its former glory, but now only the outside can be seen. The facilities and decoration inside seem to be from the 2000s. The area is also relatively remote, so it’s OK for a simple stay."
