Artina Nuovo

It was our very first time to Greece ever, and we didn't know Marathopolis or the area at all in advance. We (3 friends) came to this little charming town by bus from Athens. Excellent transportation which we can highly recommend. But it would probably be an advantage to have a car available in the area, unless you don't mind going by taxi (which we did and it worked out just fine) As we arrived the Artina Nuovo Hotel we felt very welcome and expected right away. Dimitria (not sure of the spelling) was an excellent hotelowner and director, and gave us lots of useful information about the area. Then we checked into beautiful rooms/apartments which were very clean, very inviting and looked almost brand new. (even if the hotel is more than 20 years old). The view on the ocean is stunning! We stayed for 3 nights and we were spoiled with delicious breakfast served outside in the sun every morning, receiving traditional cakes as an extra, just to give us the opportunity to taste some homemade local treats. Simply loved it! The poolarea is clean and well maintained. We were there before the high season set in. With a few minutes walk we got into the village center. Marathopolis is very small but very cozy. Everywhere we went, we were met with smiles and kind people. The restaurants/bars on the oceanline were nice, as well as the people working at the small local grocerystore. Seems like the area hasn't been "touristified" yet, which we just loved. If you need an excellent hotel and a cozy smalltown village, this is the place to go. The beaches are a short drive away, but it seems like the area is building up its infrastructure, and we suppose that local beaches in walking distances will be available in the near future. We would highly (!!!!) recommend the Artina Nuovo Hotel and the beautiful town of Marathopolis for future guests. Hope the atmosphere and coziness remains, even if they should decide to develop this area even more. We would love to go back some day! Our second visit to this lovely little family-owned hotel. Thank you Babis, Dimitra and everyone else for making the Artina such a great place to stay. We love the location, next to the little harbour outside Marathopolis, within walking distance to good restaurants and bars in time for the fabulous sunset. Our double room was recently renovated, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Mattress, pillows, bed linen and towels - all good quality and much appreciated! There was a good variety of breakfast dishes and we enjoyed sitting outside on the grass watching the boats in the harbour whilst having our breakfast. Although lovely Lagkouvardos beach is only a few minutes away by car, it takes about 20 mins to reach on foot from the hotel along the little coastal path. Marathopolis is a great location to visit this part of the Wonderful Péloponnèse. There’s so much to see and do. We hope to come back soon.
