Riad Dar Sbihi

Where can I start? We arrived at an innocuous front door to be welcomed in by one of the staff, quickly followed by the owner, Sofia. More on this lady later. The first impression was WOW!" The site opens up onto a courtyard full of trees, flowers and birds. We were tired, having been up since 02.00 that morning, and this was appreciated by the staff. We left our cases where they were inside the front door and was ushered to a small seating area with a table where we completed the documentation required by Moroccan law. We were served tea and pastries and shown to out room ......about 15 feet away, so we opened out each morning onto this fabulous courtyard. We opted to eat there that evening and the food was genuine Moroccan cuisine, prepared on site by their superb cook. WE discovered later that the cook went to the market each day to obtain fresh ingredients. After an early night, we arose to the call to prayer and an amazing spread of local breakfast foods. If you have never been to Marrakech before, I thoroughly recommend asking Sofia about her local guide, Rashid. He took us out for almost a whole day, showed us the "sights" and recommended various shops. He was superb and we both learned a lot that day. WE also took a trip to the Atlas Mountains for a day. Sofia will arrange this for you and it was an amazing experience with a lunch to remember! Sofia is an amazing host. She is well educated (PhD) and speaks numerous languages fluently. She is also a mine of information and useful advice. If you are going to Marrakech for the first time, I wholeheartedly recommend this riad to stay in. It is not far from the main activities in the city, but far enough to rest and relax. Five stars any time.

Wow - beautiful. The decor, the service and attention, the lovely food. We had a wonderful time and very much enjoyed our large bathroom. Great location - an oasis of calm in a lively city. Sybil and her team couldn’t have been more helpful and hospitable.

From start to finish an amazing stay in Sofia’s beautiful Riad. Welcomed on a Friday evening with a beautiful, pre-booked dinner after a long and stressful journey (those who have travelled to Marrakech before will know), breakfast served on the roof terrace every day- the breads, jams, spreads, coffee and drinks all beautifully presented. The rooms are great with everything you need for a comfortable stay, within easy reach of the souks. Waking up every morning and heading out without having to worry about locking our room, or having to organise nothing- Sofia’s network for activities is extensive and very fair in price. Would love to stay again!

We stayed here for 7 days through TUI and had an amazing time. It is rare to stay anywhere that you can feel instantly welcomed and at home such as we did at this Riad. Sibylle welcomed us when we arrived despite our flight being delayed and saved us some food as we arrived late. The whole Riad is very authentic, beautifully decorated and distinctly Moroccan. The Riad was peaceful and calm with singing birds and beautiful plants all around. The room had everything we needed and was regularly cleaned. Sibylle was incredibly helpful throughout our stay, with recommendations for restaurants, cafes, attractions and directions. Her staff were exceptional Abdul, Ottoman and all the ladies that keep the Riad running were wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful. We would especially like to mention the two private tours that Sibylle arrange for us. One with Rachid who gave us a half day tour of the Souks, he was excellent, very chatty and knowledgeable. The second with Abdul the driver who took us out of the city for a day and showed us the sights. Abdul worked very hard to tailor the day to suit us and took us to some spectacular places that really did make our trip. In short if you are a looking for a well located, beautifully authentic and welcoming oasis in the city then we would highly recommend this Riad.

What a fantastic place, super owner and great staff. First visit to Marrakech and so pleased we stayed in this Riad. Super location in that we encountered what was true Marrakech life on our doorstep. We only took one taxi in our week there, location was great for visiting all the main sights by foot - and this was best way to see Marrakech. Would highly recommend. Thank you Sibylle.

If you're looking to experience the authentic Moroccan feel, then Riad Sbihi is the perfect choice. The hostess and her colleagues make an exceptional and incredibly friendly team. I was pleasantly surprised when they went out of their way to fulfill a ‘wish’ of mine. Thank you once again! The riad is beautiful, and spending time in its garden was one of my favorite moments, especially since I needed some peace and quiet, which Riad Sbihi provided perfectly. Sibylle, the hostess is a wonderful person, and it really shows. I enjoyed our conversations, spanning from trivial to profound topics. Oh, and they serve delicious coffee, which was big plus for me!
