Bamboo Banks Farm & Guest House

Wonderful experience. Great location, quiet, delicious food, extremely friendly and helpful staff, gracious owner. Great joy to observe langurs and cheetal from close quarters. Conveniently located for Mudumalai jungle safari and excursion to Ooty and the Nilgiris. Clean and cosy rooms. A memorable experience.

This rustic guest house operation offers several acres of land to wander around in, older accommodations that were very comfortable, and an open air restaurant with wonderful home cooked meals. We stayed in the Jacaranda suite, with two bedrooms and a bathroom attached to a sitting room. A working fridge and air conditioner were present. Staff were f riendly and attentive as needed. We were with a birding group and thoroughly enjoyed the grounds over two days. My wife and I sat in an attractive forest with flowering trees and saw many different birds. Spotted deer grazed on the pasture by our room, and a few horses also wandered around. We were warned to not walk alone at night due to possible leopards but we were not too worried as the animals on site did not look too alarmed. One night we were warned that a watchman would set off crackers to scare off monkeys. These were extremely loud, but only two were set off. This is done only as needed. We did not have any monkey problems at all and would not have minded anyways.

This was the fifth visit of my family to Bamboo Banks and to say that that we had a blast would be an understatement!! They also happen to be celebrating their 50th year and we as a family have been visiting since 2014 and each time we have come with friends and family it’s always been an outstanding experience. This time I visited with my parents, wife and children for a holiday. The food spread is amazing and caters to all pallets both vegetarian and non vegetarian. We were there for a week and each day was a food extravaganza ….. The children had a blast in nature exploring the property, riding the horse, observing the myriad forms of nature present be it the flaura and fauna. There was adventure too with us driving around the property in the 4x4, cycling around the property and its many trails, admiring the view from the tree house and more. We also visited the wildlife sanctuary for guided tours, the elephant camp and driving up to Ooty. However the best part was enjoying the property and relaxing in the lap of nature. The staff as always were caring, kind and took personal interest in all our comforts be it at the breakfast table, setting up a nice evening of dinner with soup or taking care of the safety of the elderly and children with extra special care. It’s heartwarming and nice to see when something you experienced not only gets better with time and keeps up the service and experience levels of warmth love and care.

Our time at Bamboo Banks was a once in a lifetime experience that we would recommend to any and all of our friends and family visiting the area. The number one thing that made our visit so wonderful was the hospitality shown and care taken from each and every staff member. The sprawling property is in the middle of a forest reserve and is surrounded by the beauty of horses, trees, ducks, flowers, and birds. The cottages are very clean, well kept and spacious. Each and every meal has an expansive selection with warm and fresh fulkas, dosas and/or omelettes upon request. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner is included and each meal is home cooked, fresh and delicious. The property has a pool, an activities room, horse riding, a tree house and much more. Thank you to the owners and staff at Bamboo Banks for such a memorable, once in a lifetime experience!

This property is stunning, and the staff is exceptional. They epitomize the principle of keeping things simple and doing them well. Despite its spacious layout, the property is impeccably maintained and offers a variety of activities. I must give a special shoutout to Rafique. The staff is incredibly caring, ensuring that our toddler was well taken care of in terms of both activities and food. The food is another highlight of this place. A must-have experience!

This rural guest house ticked all the boxes for a natural retreat adjacent to a tiger preserve. I stayed two nights a one-bedroom cottage that was comfortable (and air conditoned) with a wonderful porch for watching birds and the animals on the farm, including beautiful spotted deer. The food was well prepared and delicious and the staff was attentive and helpful. The grounds are extensive and natural with a tower for wildlife observation. would recommend this location for anyone visiting the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.
