We stayed here as a family 10 years ago. We enjoyed the slightly formal elegance of the main house and loved the magnificent gardens. Today that has all gone. The house looks uncared for and shabby, the gardens a dismal muddy building site. But the obvious negligence is also dangerous. My wife received an electric shock from the bedside light that threw her across the room. The staff appeared subdued and reluctant to be involved. The moss covered and slippery, steep paths had no lighting or handrails to access the rooms.

The Good Rooms are clean, Gardens are neat the showers are nice and hot. Service is terrible.. Waiters are confused probably fearful - not much communication with the kitchen, you can wait up to an hour for your order. The food not so appetising end very expensive The place has great potential if only they can train their staff and improve service levels.

We came here to camp, after reading really good reviews. We found that the campsite is under new management, now called Clevers Lakesite Resort and Conference Centre. The newly built conference centre is actually on top of some of the campsite, and the other campsites had piles of gravel and deep construction vehicle tyre tracks across them. There was an ablution block with an incredibly slippery floor. I'm sure it will be a nice conference centre, but it is no longer a campsite. We camped on a random patch of grass, and left early.

Spent 3 nights at this Lakeside Resort which is 36 km south of Masvingo. A lovely hotel on a hill overlooking Lake Mtirikwe. Places of interest include the dam wall and the Great Zimbabwe Ruins. A great place to unwind with family & friends. Good for conferences.
