The only downside to this trip was choosing this hotel, which is simply the worst hotel in Japan. 1️⃣ The location is remote ➕ The hotel is small, with only 12 rooms and only one private bath for all guests to use in turn. The door wasn't even locked🔒. The actual object is as shown in the picture, the hot spring is very ordinary. The walk from the guest room to the open air was very cold. The design is seriously unreasonable. 2️⃣Before checking in, the hotel did not inform us at all that snow tires and anti-skid chains must be installed to drive to the hotel, and that this hotel can only be driven up the mountain. We drove for three hours from Nagano Jigokudani to Shirahone Onsen, but there was heavy snow and we couldn't go up the mountain without snow tires. On the way up the mountain, the vehicle lost control twice and landslides occurred, and we almost overturned and fell off the cliff. I’m still scared when I think about it now. So around 8pm, I called the hotel on the mountain to explain the situation☎️ At first, the other party said firmly that it would be impossible to check in and the room fee would not be refunded. And it was past check-in time. We had no choice but to park the car and use the app to look for other nearby hotels, but the nearest one was still half an hour away. About 10 minutes later, the hotel contacted us and said that if we paid the remaining room fee, they would send a car to pick us up on the mountain. Seems thoughtful. In fact, they just want to make money 3️⃣We told the other party our current location, and the hotel said "10 minutes away". In the end, I waited 40 minutes for the car to arrive. He claimed that he had already gone down the mountain but didn't see us. We stayed in the same place, there was only one road, and we didn't see any cars at all. Lie 4️⃣After a long time of hard work, we finally arrived at the hotel around 21:00. The doorway looked dirty. Before checking in, I specifically asked what time they could take us down the mountain the next morning, as the other person was in a hurry to go back to Tokyo for classes. The hotel staff said the earliest time was 9:30 in the morning, and then I took a shower and went to bed. The next morning at around 7:00, the male staff suddenly called and said we could leave at 8:30, we said ok... but at 8:30, we were still in the room, checking if there was anything we had forgotten, the other party stood at the door and urged us, very impatient, very bad attitude, and didn't use honorifics, saying "good morning", there were other guests behind, it really shocked my whole family We hoped that the other party would take our suitcases down, but they refused directly, waved their hands, and said they would not take them down for us, and when we left, they didn't say thank you for patronage, and they were not polite to the driver who picked us up. You made us wait for so long yesterday, so what’s wrong with only waiting for 10 minutes today? The pick-up time was not announced in advance, so your “notification” was quite “timely”. I suspect that this person is not an employee at all, but the boss's son. Has his manners been lost after staying in the mountains for so long? Of course I didn’t say these words to his face, after all, we hadn’t gotten down the mountain yet. The last straw that broke the camel's back was that they gave us the wrong shoes before we left 🙂🙃🙂🙃 5️⃣The hotel landscape is very rubbish and the yukata is ugly. Since its opening in 1941, have you seen any guest post topless photos online? What else do you do in the hotel industry if not service? Environment, hot spring quality, food, these are not as good as Nikko Hakone Izu Kusatsu Beppu Yufuin Hokkaido Forget it, the experience of other hot spring hotels is too good to be compared 6️⃣ In addition, the room does not even have a private bathroom, and you have to go to the shabby big bath to take a shower🛁. The hot water in the washbasin in the room only lasts for half a minute. Just imagine, it’s minus seven or eight degrees outside, and you wash with ice water? The last three pictures show that the hotel left us alone in the wilderness. I'm going bankrupt

The most expensive hot spring hotel in Kamikochi. It’s a bit disappointing because it’s too small and there’s no bathing place in the room. You need to go to a public bath to bathe (it feels expensive because it comes with drinks from the minibar, which is not worth the money and not really needed). Only the private bath is a real open-air bath, so it is a little small; the public bath is semi-open-air. I feel like it’s better to stay at Shirakone Onsen Station. There’s no need to stay at Awaunoyu.

A little distance from the station, overall quite satisfactory.

We stayed with our family, including our 3-year-old child. I was worried that it would be too difficult for children to stay at the hotel, and that children would be a nuisance, but we were very grateful that children were welcome. The room was spacious and the drinks in the refrigerator (beer, tea, juice) were free. The room was not cold and was a comfortable temperature. When you soak in the bathtub, your body warms up from the inside, so you don't feel particularly cold. The food was mountain vegetables and country cuisine, so I was worried about whether it would suit my taste, but it was all excellent. Even the mountain vegetables that I usually don't like were deliciously cooked and very tasty. I was also happy with the little thoughtful touch of the flowers picked that day that were served with the sake (sake tasting). The children were served rice and miso soup in the morning and evening, which was very helpful. The hot spring rice porridge for breakfast was excellent. The bath was, needless to say, the best. The milky white bathtub and the pleasant sulfur scent felt luxurious. There was also a diaper changing station in the large bath, so it was safe for children. The open-air bath can be reserved for 30 minutes free of charge. Unfortunately it was raining, but bathing under a hat was a memorable experience. It was a wonderful inn that was also child-friendly. I would definitely like to visit again.
