A traditional but dated large hotel, centrally located in the town next to the Penken cable car. We had a lovely corner room, very spacious, with nice views, pleasant balcony with table and chairs. The bathroom had a superb walk-in shower, towels were changed when requested. The restaurant was quite large but comfortable. Good choice of buffet, two starters for dinner followed by great mains and desserts. The staff were always attentive, helpful and friendly. Certain things were faded like the corridor carpets on our floor were freying in places but it’s expected in such an old hotel. The hotel did feel very tropical of Tirolean atmosphere.

Another amazing week at the Altitude Comedy Festival and another amazing week staying at the Strass with the Kids and loads of mates. Staff as always bent over backwards to help us out. Breakfast was spot on every morning and the kids love the choice and can’t beat a fresh ground coffee (on request). Bars are well priced and the location (right next to the ski lift) is the best in town. And pillows still so soft they hardly feel like they’re there. LOVE THIS PLACE.

Single room was small and dark, hotel refused to consider changing my room despite hotel been very quiet. Receptionist very unhelpful and rude even though I told her I have low vision in dark environments. The room overlooked another hotel directly opposite so when I had the light on they could see directly into the room. Food was basic breakfast options limited , I had to ask for fresh orange juice. Evening meals were very uninspiring with poor quality ingredients. I have a red pepper allergy and despite repeatedly telling that to the waiter, they replaced meals still with red peppers until I gave up and didn't eat anything. Spa was left unattended and you have to walk through to reception to get a towel. Mayrhofen was lovely and the walks we did with Inghams were amazing ..just avoid this hotel.

Back once again to this belter of a hotel, this time with more of a business focus, and not in my “usual” room. No matter! New room just as excellent, with a Mountain View; restaurant just as brilliant in the evening as at breakfast (staff knowing I’ll want a double espresso and just bringing it! 😍), spa still perfect and an exciting looking refurb happening (quietly!) for next season. I will DEFINITELY be back!!

Pros: very close to main ski lift, fantastic spa (but to appreciate properly, you need to cast aside inhibitions with clothing!), and the "sole bath" @ E30 extra is highly recommended (nothing to do with feet!) If you must keep your clothes on, the relatively small main pool was often full of splashy shouty kids. The one downstairs was much bigger and rarely had more than one of two people in it, if any. But the gym is huuuge and extremely well equipped and there are two further clothed saunas upstairs. Also very close to the Spar supermarket. Some things, however, were a bit 'meh' - some of the room furnishings could have done with freshening up and our rooms were above the ice bar which, thankfully, as it was nearly end of season, was only open one night during our stay - it was raucous! Food is a bit of a mixed bag - one gets the impression that they are trying a bit too hard sometimes and hit the post with trying to be too Masterchef. Certainly plentiful, and there's a wide menu of 'tried and trusted' basics to fall back on if you don't fancy the fancy stuff. Likewise the waiting staff were also a mixed bag, with one being positively rude as well as apparently not trained in Silver Service, but others delighful.

We were in July 2025 for one week in Hotel Strass. Everything was very good and the staff is friendly, especially Sivan wo served our diner every night. This guy knows how to make your stay feel very good. He was also very kind to our children.
