Cheap hotels are fine, as long as you know what to expect. This one is cheap, and looks fine on the website, yet, I found the rooms quite shabby, with a lot of things broken, half finished and rather mouldy. There was a bible though. But instead of having god as a refuge, I'd rather stay in some other hotel next time.

Booked this place for an overnight stay on a business trip - I should not have. The location is great, BUT: calling this a 3 star HOTEL is quite an overstatement... I've stayed at plenty of B&B's which were way better for a fairer price. The room came relatively cheap at 99 EUR plus city tax (off season in February) which did not include breakfast, and based on the reviews I'm glad I did not spend the extra 16 EUR on it. The hotel has a weird layout with a separate reception and a fire-door type entry with a broken handle to some old derelict building. Conveniently located next to the Mechelen Cathedral which is nice if you don't mind listening to bells chiming every hour, right next to the main square. This is about as positive as it gets. The rooms are extremely shabby, most things are broken e.g. towel holder in the bathroom hanging halfway ripped out of the wall, some odd cabinet type contraption behind the toilet that is broken and chipped, dirty light switches from the 80's, overall broken and worn out feeling. Sinking mattress with no support, placed on top of two single beds that do not match in height and size. Flower decoration in a used wine bottle with the labels on and some sand inside. Unbearable perfume smell in the entire room which I had no idea where was coming from, so had to keep the window open in -5 °C to try to air it out and then listen to the traffic on the cobblestoned street below. Extremely rough towels that appear to have been washed a thousand times with some extra tough detergent. Plastic cups for drinking that were milky from the wear and use. Just UGH. Sheets were clean and I stayed in much worse in Belgium before, but still, not even close to a 3-star hotel. Oh, and the check in: friendly girl at the reception, took quite a while to find my reservation (booked through company booking app) which turned out they mistakenly booked for the next day. Lucky for me they had space available so at least I did not have to wonder around a strange city looking for another place to stay - but maybe this was the Universe's way of trying to warn me to back off. Next time I'll take the hint and give this place a miss.

Good location and a spacious room. However, a check out time of 10 o`clock was super early. After a debate at the reception they extended it for us until 10:30, which is still early. The internet was very poor, basically non existent in the room. 3 different networks, but no functioning Wi-Fi.

Hotel located directly at the Cathedral and 150m from the Grote Markt. Staff TOP. Breakfast perfect (maybe scrambled eggs could be added) and rooms very clean. Price / quality / location very pleasantly surprised. We will definitely come back here often.

The worst weekend ever. At check-in we were told that we were getting a free room upgrade. I really don't know what people mean by this. Hotel is outdated, worn out and in need of complete renovation. The evening of our arrival it was 11° outside, there was no heating on and when you get out of the shower it is not pleasant at all. It was very cold in the room/bathroom. The towels are as thin as paper. We had a 2 night stay, the 1st night there was some night noise from other guests coming into their rooms, but that often happens in a hotel, it was also short lived. The 2nd night, drunk men who had celebrated a bachelor's night came into their room in the room next to us, making noise at night (calling at each other, dropping things, showering for hours on end and then vomiting in the toilet from 2.15 am to 4.45 am). u. There was no one at the reception at night where we could report this, so you just go back to bed and wait until morning. When checking out we report the night noise, but the response was "I will tell the gentlemen "........, sorry but that is of no use to us. The only positive thing about our stay was breakfast on Saturday morning with the friendly lady who had prepared everything. We will never go here again.

This hotel is definitely NOT worth repeating. We were given room 33, but it had several defects: - Broken light in the bathroom (already reported on the first evening, there was nothing they could do about it, the previous guest had broken it) - Socket that does not work - Musty smell - Free water in the fridge is expired from April 2021!! - Roller blind in the bathroom is so dirty that we left it hanging - Pieces on the shower When checking out we reported all this to the reception, but she could not do anything about it, we just had to put it in an email. We did this immediately, but still no response after a week. Emailed again and all we get back is an apology, they know that 'fixer uppers' need to be done. If you know that, you shouldn't rent out those rooms. When we responded that an apology was not enough for us and that we expected financial compensation, we received the response that we were not being professional. I then picked up the phone. However, they were not open to feedback, it came down to the fact that what we said was not true, ... Then the lady hung up the phone. Very sad! In summary: for a trip to Mechelen it is best to book somewhere else.

Unfortunately, the reception was unmanned both when I left and when I arrived. First, I had dinner with my friends in the restaurant. The next day we talked and both said afterwards that it was uncomfortably cold at dinner. Afterwards I went to my room, where it was very cold. That's when I noticed the bathroom window was open. Of course I closed it immediately. It was also very cold in the bedroom and the heating was turned off, there was no heating in the bathroom. When I went to bed I noticed that everything was damp. I then tried to dry the duvet and pillow with the hairdryer. Unfortunately the bathroom wasn't clean either. I found leftovers from other guests. The next morning the windows in the bedroom and bathroom were completely wet, which also showed me that the humidity was way too high, and combined with the cold temperatures, it wasn't exactly a pleasant night. When I arrived for breakfast at 8:15 a.m. everything had already been put away. As a guest, this gave me the impression that I had been forgotten and was not wanted. Everything was brought back to the buffet, but by then I barely had time to eat breakfast. There were only the remains that were still there. Since breakfast actually lasts until 10:00 a.m., I was very disappointed here too. I can say that I have had better stays in B&Bs and expected something different from a 3 star hotel.

on arrival there was no hot water, not even after an hour and a half, before 7 pm on Saturday no hot water! the management did not consider this abnormal. according to them there is no hot water every day for several hours because of a necessary reset of the heating. foreign. bathroom also dated, shower head loose, staff was friendly, but management not understanding.

On arrival the room was cold. After calling it took 20 minutes before someone came to look, so to speak, the drivers were closed by the previous one. After several hours it was still not warm. Called again and a technician was sent, we never saw him. There was also trash from the previous one in the room.
