Stayed 2 nights in Overbridge River resort. Location at the river is very beautiful, and offers fantastic sunrises. Very quiet, surrounded by nature with lovely butterflies, birds... Loungers at the river are very nice to relax. The room we had, was another thing. We had everything we needed, even hot water, fridge, coffee, tea...but the whole room was old and tired and in need of renovation. The same for the swimming pool. Breakfast was a disaster. When we arrived at 08h00 as they told us, the buffet was empty. A big group took breakfast early in the morning and there was nothing left. We had to wait to get some bread, some eggs. The tables were dirty and we had to look for something to clean them up by ourselves. So not a nice start of the day. Diner was OK. Rooms were not cleaned during our stay, but that is something we encountered in other places in Suriname too. So go there for the location and the lovely nature, but not for the resort.

I love the location and the staff sees to it that there is no loud music, area is clean. There is no facility to cook but there is a BBQ / grill set outside. The rooms are clean and no living room separate. There is a small fridge, water cooker and a microwave. There is luckily warm water available and a restaurant that opens from 08.00-18.00. There are towels and bedsheet’s available aswell. There are some improvement points like a dressing table or small table that can be added in the rooms and the bathroom can have an hand shower to easily bath small kids. A shop for swimwear and floaters will possibly pay off as well. Overal value for your money and worth a visit

Just before our departure to Suriname, the Berg en Dal was closed due to the high water and we were offered an equivalent (or so we were told) alternative. What a disappointment! we got house 1, it smelled terrible, had a view of some rubbish, actually dark and musty. We asked for another house but got the same offer. In desperation I got an upgrade for an additional payment of 60 euros. The location was better, house bigger, but the beds terrible, we laughed about it. 1 Bed had an iron spiral mattress, feet stuck out and when you moved in bed you bounced and creaked in all directions. Luckily only 2 nights! Incidentally, the restaurant was closed at 5pm during the week and there were no other eateries nearby. In general people were friendly.

Veel van de andere beoordelingen kloppen wel, maar we hebben een aangename dag hier doorgebracht met lekkere lunch. Aparte sfeer, vrijwel niemand op deze licht regenachtige ochtend, wel een overdaad aan ge- en verbodsborden. In de verte stapels gevelde woudreuzen en een geheimzinnig Chinees kampement op de weg ernaartoe.

Een beetje vergane glorie. Het huisje waar we verbleven was prima, helaas zaten we na 2 overnachtingen onder de uitslag van beten. Waarschijnlijk zat er iets in de matrassen. Het eten in het restarant was redelijk. Personeel was erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

We kwamen hier aan in de avond en in het donker heb je geen idee waar je terecht komt. Gelukkig konden we gelijk aan tafel. De bestelling was helaas mis gegaan. Ons huisje lag helemaal aan het eind en was erg sober ingericht. De badkamer was niet erg schoon maar het was voor ons nog te doen. Lekker zicht wel op het strandje vanaf de veranda. Het zwembad was een soort rivierbad met infinity pool. Klinkt geweldig maar voelt broeierig en niet schoon. Het voelt als een verlaten vakantie oord uit vervlogen tijden. Alles lijkt leeg te staan. De vriendelijkste vrouw van het resort bracht ons (2x) naar de weg voor onze volgende transfer. Na 2 nachten hadden we het hier wel gezien.

Het is een groot complex wat voor 95% leegstond. Deprimerende omgeving omdat de boel erg verouderd is. De huisjes zijn op zich schoon, maar de eerder gemaakte vlekken op deuren en ramen zitten er nog. Condens op de ramen. Douche water is wel warm. Het keukenblokje is minimaal, je moet je hoofd buigen omdat je anders te hoofd stoot. Schimmel in de badkamer. De tegels rondom het zwembad zijn verwijderd, wat er nu ligt is een soort gebrokkeld beton. Het water in het zwembad zag er schoon uit maar omdat alles zo verouderd is, durfden wij er niet in. Op het strand staan restanten van strandhuisjes. Ligbedden zijn gammel en er ligt veel afval. In het water bij het zwembad bij de rivier dreef een olie achtige laag. Wij kwamen laat aan (19.00) en hadden gebeld omdat het restaurant dan dicht gaat. Ze waren zo vriendelijk om nog even open te blijven. We hadden pasta besteld maar niet opgegeten, het smaakte niet, het kostte 430 SRD pp. aardig prijzig. In de omgeving is werkelijk niets te doen. Gepland was dat we na wat dagen hier terug zouden komen maar dit hebben we geannuleerd.

De huisjes zijn best groot, maar helaas, als er iets kapot gaat, wordt het slordig gerepareerd. Zwembad is oke, water iets te warm. Er is ook een rivierzwembad, heerlijk water. Het restaurant heeft een zeer goede kok. Vanaf hier kun je Jodensavanne bezoeken.
