Meikleour Arms Hotel & Restaurant

We stayed in the Walled Garden Cottages. Wonderful. Lovely walks around the locale and an easy stroll to the hotel where we had both breakfast and dinner. All the food was superb. Terrific staff were the icing on the cake. Absolutely will return.

Their staff was friendly. The Victorian decor was a bit on the dated side. The room had water, tea, coffee, sherry and a couple of biscuits in the room, but room lacked ISB ports. We were in the “Flauhaut” superior room. Our room faced the road, and it could get loud. It was quiet when it was quiet, but you are right on the road. Shower was super slippery. It did have the largest shower head that I’ve ever seen…good stuff. Make sure you put the bathmat in there. Restaurant was extremely good for dinner and breakfast. Best hotel dinner we had in Scotland. Lure is their local beer.

Returning customer. My family and I have stayed a few times at the stables and cottages, we decided to stay for NYE and NYD, few mix ups with dinner and breakfast reservations which I fed back to reception but on a whole the accommodation is immaculate.

After having spent the 23/24 New Year in one of the Stable Cottages, and having loved it, we decided to repeat our stay to see in 2025. This time we were in Cottage 14, a Superior graded 1 bedroom Cottage on one floor. The apartment was huge, and very well equipped. As with last time, the housekeeping service was excellent, including on New Year’s day itself. We dined in the hotel on 2 of our 4 evenings, including Hogmanay itself, and again the food and service were up to their usual fantastic standard. My wife is Coeliac, and was very well catered for, with the special Hogmanay menu adapted where required. All the bar, breakfast & dinner staff were superb, and made everybody feel very welcome. Although we don’t have a dog ourselves, the hotel is extremely dog friendly if that is what you are looking for. For those who haven’t visited the area before, the location is perfect for visiting much of Perthshire, Angus and other areas with ease. We managed to visit the Black Watch Museum and newly opened Perth Museum, the Dewars Aberfeldy Distillery and Stirling Castle in our 3 full days there. As an added bonus the Northern Lights put on a show on our final night as we were making our way back to the cottage from the main hotel itself (not sure they can guarantee this for you, but if the lights are out, the dark surroundings make seeing them more likely). Overall, another great stay, and already booked to see in 2026.

Go here often so booked to take friends for a “thank you” pre Christmas lunch. We were told we could have the festive menu….but only if all 4 of us had it, which seemed a bit strange. One of us didn’t want turkey so as the turkey meal was on the main menu as a special we opted for that. It was delicious but sadly could not be followed by Christmas pudding as that was ONLY on the festive menu and no amount of pleading, imploring, begging would achieve a change of heart. Our waitress even went out the back to ask but it was deemed NOT ALLOWED…..PATHETIC and spoilt our lunch experience. I emailed the establishment that evening to put my point of view and was told it would be passed onto the manager but it is now 5 days since we visited and I have not had a reply. The staff we encountered were, as always, very pleasant but it has left a bad taste.

Visited yesterday for Sunday lunch with family. Nice pub hotel/restaurant in country with a decent menu. We opted for the full Monty roast beef and what a delight it was. Quality beef , cooked to perfection, with good service and a lovely glass of ( their own) wine. There is a nice walk through the forest just up the road.
