Mercersburg Inn

Second time here. We were once again cycling The Western Maryland Rail Trail. This beautiful inn is just over the border in PA. Lovely place. This time we had room 10 on the 3rd floor. Beautiful room with period furniture and very comfy bed. Tomi, the innkeeper graciously let us store our bikes in the back hall. The location is also perfect to ski at Whietail so this will be our “ go to” for ski season. Had dinner in Byron’s dining room which was every bit as good as our first experience. They even made me a gluten free waffle at breakfast. Ramsey was our server at breakfast. A sweetheart. Lots of fun playing pool in the game room after dinner.

I can’t say enough good things about this b&b. I used self check in as I arrived late and filled out my breakfast preferences before heading to my room. Bet of airbnb & hotel rolled into one. The road can be a little loud, but no worries, they have ear plugs by the bed. I was sent on my way with a goodie bag! That is the best! And on top of it all, I left my phone charger, she found it and mailed it back to me on her dime. 5 Stars is not enough!

I stayed at the inn to be close to Whitetail Ski Resort. The Garden Room is suitable for a solo traveler, and the sitting rooms on the first floor are charming. I enjoyed very good meals there (dinner, breakfast). The staff people were friendly, helpful, and professional. I would stay there - and eat there - again without hesitation.

What a real hidden gem. My husband is a strong supporter of Rails to Trails bike trails. We wanted to do a few segments of The Western Maryland Rail Trail. Found this beautiful old inn right over the Maryland border in PA. Gorgeous architecture. Tomi, the innkeeper was wonderful. Our room keys were ready and she even let us store our bikes in a back hall. Our room was very clean and comfortable. A bonus was a full size Kerug coffee maker right on the massive second floor landing. Was great to have a cup to wake up before going down to breakfast. We were given forms to fill out with breakfast selection and time for the next morning. Everything was ready when we entered the breakfast room. Ramsay our server was a sweetie. Byron’s Dining Room at the inn is beautiful and we had a fabulous meal. Be aware it is only open Thursday to Saturday. We arrived on a Tuesday and promptly made our Thursday reservation. Awesome pool table in the basement game room and we played every night. Only thing I would mention is that we were in room 5. Nanny’s Room. Beautiful room, period furniture. It was not a problem for us because I’m petite and my husband average size but the shower is very tiny. If you are a larger person I would choose a different room. According to the binder in the room, this room and the one next door used to be connected by a bathroom which was split in two. We definitely plan to return to cycle in the fall and will be our “ go to” place for skiing at Whitetail in the winter.
