We arrived at the hotel in the middle of the night around 4 o’clock and the lady said your room is over there, pointing out the window behind reception. I noticed however that in front of us were two people who were guided to their room, we were treated like second class citizens all the time we were there. When we tried to find the room that we were staying in there were no lights on , the place was vast and quite frightening for a couple in their late sixties as we are to be walking around at night time. I had to use the torch on my phone to find out where we were going. As we walked into the room that we were given there was a smell of sewerage in the whole place- it was absolutely stinking and both my wife and I started baulking - nearly being sick so I said we can’t stay in here. So we both found our way back to reception using my torch on the phone because again there was no guide and there was nothing else to guide us back to reception . I said to the lady there’s no way we can stay in that room it smells of sewage can we move us somewhere else, please? She said no there’s nowhere else to go. Here’s an air freshener use that - I said I can’t because it smells too bad and we were just gonna be sick. We need to speak to a manager. She said there’s no manager or anybody else you can speak to tonight - they don’t start till tomorrow morning. Now bearing in mind we’ve been travelling all night and we were really really tired, I said right what are you going to do to help us - she just shrugged her shoulders and said there are no other rooms available. I said we cannot sleep in that room- ( in the meantime a security person had gone with me to the room and said no, you cannot sleep there). So I said we have no choice but to sleep in reception. She said fine!!We pulled up a couple of couches and we had to sleep in reception that night having travelled all through the night. I have to sleep with a CPAP machine so there was I in the middle of reception and my wife in the clothes that we travelled with, our suitcases and me with a mask on my mouth from my CPAP machine which I had connected to the nearest socket. Very embarrassing for us but she didn’t seem to care. So we slept there for about two hours, before the main lights came on. My wife was scared that somebody was gonna do something to our cases -she stayed awake all the time we were there. At about 8 o’clock in the morning, the receptionist said - oh we have another room thats cleaned and sorted for you. Again we were told that the the room is over there - here’s your keys and again we had to walk across the vast complex on our own to find the room. As soon as I walked in, it was exactly the same sewage smell and it was just as bad if not worse than the first place. I therefore went back to reception and said no this is no good ; We can’t sleep there either because it just smells of human waste exactly the same as the last place that you tried to put us in. I love this hotel, so forgive me if my review is a bit gushing! And sorry for the length too! Everything about this place is good, but it's the staff who really make it stand out. Every single person we encountered, from bar and restaurant staff to cleaning and maintenance people, was friendly and helpful. Food: breakfast is an all you canneat buffet and has a wide variety. Most of the guests are German so you can expect a good selection of cold meats (the local cameiot is my favourite) and cheeses, and lots of different types of bread. Also plenty of fresh fruit (including the best oranges I've ever eaten), typical cooked breakfast with deliciously crispy bacon, an omelet station where they will make you an omelet to order, a couple of types of cereal. The cooked breakfast had a couple of surprises .. brussels sprouts one day, churros the next. Coffee is from a machine, and if you hunt you'll find the one which does decaff. Dinner is a multi-course affair. First is the extensive salad buffet, next you choose from 2 soups (one hot and one cold .. don't miss the salmorejo), then you choose from.a couple of starters, then your choice of main, and finish with dessert buffet. No coffee. Our room (108) had a balcony with a sea view .. I think all the rooms probably do face the sea. Very clean and comfortable. Occasional water pressure issues to be expected in such a dry place. Pod coffee machine in the room, pods (aka capsules) from reception at €1 each. Safe in the room was free. Fridge in the room too. Pool always immaculate and warm. Good poolside shower was very welcome too. Thick towels available from reception for a deposit (which they take off your final bill). We actually spent more time at the beach than the pool .. sandy beaches a short walk away. Some have quite a thick click of black sea**** at the ahoreline ... just move on to the next bit of beach for clear turquoise water which is seawees free. Beware a few rocks under the sandy floor .. you can see them through the clear water so make sure you pay attention and dont stub your toe! They are environmentally conscious with a refillable glass caraf in the room for filling from the chiller in reception, also refillable glass water bottles for €3.50 in the restaurant (you don't get to keep the bottle .. that's extra. And you can't bring your own water to the restaurant). They change neither bedding nor towels unless you signal that you want them to.

Nice and cute hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are clean, cute and have a nice fresh modern beachy athmospere. The room has nice details like bathrobes, bathslippers, mandala drawing set to relax, lovely minibar, free welcoming water bottle, showergels and many more. The room we had was small, but I still really enjoyed it. We spend out last night in another room and that one was more spacious, so that’s just luck. Unfortunately there was one thing bothering us and that was the bad WiFi connection. First room was okay but the second was not even connecting at all. So that’s really a thing. I’ve seen this in some other reviews from the hotel also. The spa is not big, but just enough to relax a little bit. Looks great and clean. The restaurant attached to it is a very nice one. Very kind and helpfull staff. We got the fish and chips by recommandation of the waiter and that was just amazing. Made with DAILY fresh catched fish and well priced for that kind of quality. As they buy the fish fresh everyday you have the chance it’s sold out because they ran out of fish. Also the chicken croquettes from the snack menu were amazing. It has a kind of indian curry flavour.

We were incredibly excited about our stay at Son Julia Country House & Spa, but unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of appalling. From the moment we arrived, we thought we had the wrong address. It looks nothing like the website photos or what is advertised on ***********! The decor is mismatched, cheap, and utterly tired. No one was at the door to welcome us or help open the heavy front door to assist with our luggage, which is not what you expect from a so-called 5-star hotel. The lobby was a depressing sight – dark, no lighting, no music. It was so dull that we genuinely thought the place was closed down. This set the tone for the entire stay. Our first night was less than enjoyable. After falling asleep and missing our dinner reservation at the hotel, we ordered room service. When the waitress arrived, instead of a warm greeting, we were scolded for missing the reservation and told that we should have “given our table to someone else.” I have never been berated by staff in my life, especially not in a 5-star hotel. We are paying customers, not children to be reprimanded, and the hotel clearly has ample capacity for all guests. The rudeness was absolutely shocking and unacceptable. Secondly, our room (the suite) smelled strongly of mold, and the shower smelled so awful that I had to clean it myself using shower gel. The glass partitions were covered in fingerprints that were clearly not ours, suggesting the cleaning standards were extremely poor. The room telephone is cordless & even after charging all night and saying on the screen that it was fully charged, as soon as we lifted it off the base the battery died & the phone had to be precariously balanced on the base to be able to use it. We mentioned this on the day we arrived & 2 days later the guy that they had said would come to fix it, still hadn’t arrived. Legend says, he’s still on his way. The ‘spa’ was a nightmare. When I went to look at the treatment rooms (room!!) I found a single mattress on the floor. I understand this is a ‘Futon’ style massage bed but the presentation & decor of the spa is awful & in no way luxurious. There is one professional treatment bed in there too but only one resident therapist available. It is not a fully functional spa. So you can’t have a couples massage (which they do in fact advertise) as you’d have to go one after the other. Upon heading down to the pool facilities, we found the jacuzzi water was brown, and the filter was clogged with hair, dirt, and debris – clearly months’ worth of neglect. I dread to think of what else could be stuck in there. When I showed the receptionist a picture, she dismissed it with excuses, claiming it’s cleaned DAILY and was “due to be done today.” I find that extremely hard to believe as that amount of filth cannot collect after just one day, let alone one week. If the water were tested, I’m certain it would be deemed unsafe. To top off day 2, the breakfast omelette I ordered was raw in the middle.
