A well organised and clean modern venue. The food is of a particularly high standard. We stayed in room 6 which is barely big enough to swing a cat in so despite being clean is best avoided if there for more than one night.

The room is simple and unpretentious. I tasted the local Scottish steak and the local beer ale was very good.

Stayed two nights while on a trip around northern England and Scotland. Can not say enough about this great old pub located in a little village surrounded by the beautiful English countryside. The hosts Chris and Sophie were extremely hospitable, the room was very nice and the breakfast was fantastic, got to love a full English breakfast. Had dinner here one night and my wife and I both thought the meal was delicious.

We had lunch for 5 on Thursday 26th September. Arrived at 1pm and were welcomed by the Landlady of the Red Lion. Drinks delivered straight away and we all had a lovely meal, which included dessert. They couldn’t have been more helpful. Well recommended.

Excellent food and accommodation. The pub looks slightly tatty on the outside but the quality of the offer was excellent. The room in the annexe was comfortable but the best feature was the really good quality food which is at the top of the range for pub food. All was great value.

Stayed in the outbuildings. Twin room was roomy/comfortable and facilities were very good. Fantastic food with a varied menu & I can thoroughly recommend the breaded fish & home cooked steak pie. Very friendly staff. Definitely will revisit when we’re up this way again

Great place so friendly, staff lovely and helpful, seems to be run by a youngish couple who are enthusiastic they have a great chef, food excellent. Room good and en-suite good, carpet needed a bit clean as a couple of marks but nothing bad. Good value for money.
