It is near Kurokawa Onsen, so it offers a quieter and more quaint Japanese hot spring experience. As soon as the car arrived, they greeted you at the door and took your luggage to your room. The check-in steward introduced in detail the starry sky room, saki and tea house, library, men's bath, women's bath, private bath and other public places. The most amazing thing is the food here. The traditional Japanese environment and dining are rich, exquisite and delicious. The ingredients are extremely fresh and creative. The horse meat sashimi is surprisingly delicious; the traditional salt-grilled fish is also excellent. I like the private bath rooms here. They are big enough, with indoor and outdoor private baths, surrounded by green trees and sunshine. The space is very private. The hot spring water temperature here is high, so it should be more comfortable in autumn and winter.

The approach from the entrance to the inn to the building is very beautiful and makes me excited. I visited during the rainy season, but I enjoyed the rice terraces and the beautiful green mountain scenery from the restaurant and the library inside the building. The hot spring water is gentle on the skin and I could soak in it all the time. The women's bath has an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and there are many private baths. You can enjoy a variety of Kumamoto ingredients in the food. Each dish is carefully prepared and delicious. I stayed for two nights and looked forward to dinner and breakfast. Of course the food was great, but what surprised me was how delicious the white rice was! It is said to be rice called Kuma-san no Kagayaki from Oguni, and the warm rice and rice balls for midnight snack are very delicious. It's been a while since I've eaten so much rice, such as rice with egg on top and rice balls. The gauze pajamas provided as amenities are also comfortable. There are many recommended spots to drive around in the area, such as Oguni, Aso, and Kuju, and there are many hot springs with different sources nearby, which is very fun. It's nice to relax at the inn, and if the weather is good, you can enjoy the scenery of the four seasons. Thank you to the landlady and all the staff for your warm hospitality. I travel to hot spring inns every month. I'm in my mid-60s. I stay at inns in various price ranges, but the inns I like have a good price and service. This was my first time here, but the temperature of the water in both the open-air bath and the indoor bath was just right, and the indoor bath felt strangely calming. You can use the outdoor private bath any time if it's available. The water is a nice, slightly cloudy water. It's the same as Kurokawa Onsen. There is a large open-air bath, and I liked the atmosphere there. There are many baths compared to the number of rooms, so it didn't feel crowded. I think the food is worth the price. I was satisfied. As others have written, the rice was very delicious. Alcohol is available, including Kumamoto shochu and Kumamoto sake, and local sake is relatively reasonably priced. The draft beer is the size of a mug at an izakaya, and I was satisfied with it, and there was a Bordeaux red wine for about 4,000 yen, and the taste is reasonable and I think even those who like spicy food will be satisfied. The dining area is not completely private, so that's a bit of a weakness. The landlady came to greet us during meals and took photos for us when we left, and we were very friendly and made a good impression. Most of the waiters were foreign, but you could tell they were all working hard. It felt like everyone was watching over the landlady. It was a well-balanced, well-run inn that I would like to visit again if I'm in the area.
