This review is based on 1 night in the triple room on the ground floor. Given the other rather good reviews, I imagine that the other rooms are different...but our experience was bad. The only positive point, the staff were accommodating and seemed apologetic. This message is especially aimed at the owner who should seriously consider rethinking this room. The room is located directly at the hotel entrance, so we will hear residents entering/exiting all evening/night. The room is not air conditioned which is not possible with the heat (1 fan only which does not do the job). This requires us to leave the windows open (so we will remain in darkness throughout our stay) with the shutters closed. Motorcycles accelerating, cars/4x4s/mini buses parking, coming back, leaving... groups of people who seem agitated and who make it known loudly... and when late at night, the alley seems to empty... the dogs from the neighborhood take over… all right under our windows. Beyond the noise and the heat, it is impossible to have total darkness in the room. It was a nightmarish night, the worst hotel night for me and yet I have traveled. For the rest, the bathroom is not functional (cast entirely in concrete) and is tiny. The swimming pool is absent, it is a pool 1m50 deep and 2m long. The breakfast is not at the level of other residences visited in Saõ Vicente or Santo Antao. My sister will be followed early in the morning when she goes out to run an errand. We decide to cancel our 2nd night planned here. For this last evening in Cape Verde we want to stay with a beautiful impression, the one that was ours during our 15 days of travel in these magnificent islands. We very quickly found a hotel 30% cheaper just a stone's throw away and which offered all the expected comfort. If you decide to stay at Casa Colonial… choose your room wisely.
