This is a hotel with history and old-style style. The advantage is that the mother-in-law at the counter is very hospitable and smart. She uses an English translator to introduce the hotel and communicate with us. This is a traditional old-style Japanese hot spring hotel. There is a parking space for self-driving tours. , and it is convenient to go to nearby attractions in Dabu Jie. The breakfast is exquisite and delicious. The disadvantage is that the hotel is old, of course, older and does not have independent toilets and baths. It depends on what experience the guests want.

Absolute secret place
Location: It is located at the high point of Iya Valley, surrounded by mountains and mist, like entering a fairyland. It only takes 3 minutes to walk to the urinary monk, don't miss it.
Service: The hotel shuttle bus was booked in advance (JR Oboke Station). The driver was very considerate and stopped at the Iya Gorge Observation Deck to introduce and let us take pictures.
Hot spring: It is very unique. You need to take a cable car to the outdoor hot spring, close to the Iya River, and the water temperature of 35 degrees directly out of the hot spring is very suitable for summer. Listening to the birdsong & the rushing river, looking at the green mountains & clouds, smelling the sulfur-smelling air, and immersing your body in the hot spring water, it is very comfortable and relaxing.
Food: Breakfast and dinner are arranged with mountain delicacies, which are beautifully made and worth a try.
Room: The layout is exquisite, and the bonus points are - audio equipment & ”Morning, Dusk, Night” CD, which makes people feel particularly soothing and very attentive.
Service: Active and enthusiastic, you feel at home.
The room are above the restaurant . You check in at the bar area. staff know limited english but they have preapred english instructions in advance . Room and toilet are clean. air con is strong. Basic toilet amenities provided.
A truly wonderful place to stay in the heart of the Iya Valley. We had a very warm welcome, and our Traditional Japanese room was great with its own hot bath on a private balcony. The food is exceptional, both in taste and presentation. Every member of staff was very attentive and went out of their way to accommodate my wife’s dietary requirements. Staff even came to wave us off when we left. Highly recommended. We had a wonderful stay for 2 nights.
Hotel location: In Iya, it is convenient to drive, and it is also convenient to go to Oboke and Koboke. It would be a bit difficult to get there without a car.
Service: 100-point service. When I arrived at the hotel, I was notified that the air conditioner in the room I booked was broken. They prepared two other rooms for me and upgraded one of them. Since we don’t eat raw food, after informing the hotel that day, cooked food was arranged for dinner that day and breakfast the next day. Thank you very much!
Facilities: The room is large and clean, and has many daily necessities.
Food: Very delicious, there are many kinds of food, every dish is exquisite, very satisfying
Hot spring: It is quite large for Shikoku. There is an outdoor hot spring, but it doesn't feel hot enough. In addition to the pool, the indoor hot springs also have standing rooms, which is very interesting.
It was our first time staying at a Ryokan so I can't really compare but everything was great, food, room, and service.
The onsen has an open air area where you can hear the roar of the river below and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains.

Outstanding
GGuest UserOverall facilities, food, services were awesome. Amazing services provided to us: complimentary ride to vine bridge, waterfall due to early arrival to hotel. Assisted to our train schedules for our next destination, offer treats for our long journey. Mailing postcard service. All staff demonstrated professional and courtesy attitude to their guest. Room Tenjin with open air bath is excellent, definitely recommended. Enjoy our stay.
We would like to see bus schedules to be improved by increasing more buses run to and from the hotel; or arrange free hotel shuttle to and from Oboke Station, if required.
JJamieFergusI booked two rooms this time. The environmental facilities are also very good. The check-in service staff is also very polite after 9 pm. The room key has been prepared early in the morning.
Unfortunately, there is only one small bath in the big bath.
IilosoldThe dinner was very delicious and the service was good. When the typhoon was encountered, I also contacted in advance to provide free cancellation. I forgot to prepare things for us. It is very quiet in the mountains and there are outdoor hot springs.
GGuest UserA very decent place to spend the night. It's very close to one of the vine bridges, which is light up at night sometimes. Take into account that there are VERY limited options to eat out in the area and everything closes at 17:00. It gets dark ans there may be wildlife on the road so driving can be dangerous. And the nearest facilities are far away. So if you want to eat, either make use of the meal options from the ryokan or bring your own bento's.
The room was very nice and the bathroom/ toilet areas were clean. Please note that the stairs is quite narrow and steep which may bring a challengeto take a big suitcase upstairs.
The staff was very nice and helpfull. With a bit of help from our phones we could communicate that which we did not understand in Japanese and/or English. They pointed out sights to see in the area and lend a flashlight to walk to the bridge at night.
GGuest UserThe room we booked was a traditional tatami room. Although the hotel is old, it is very clean and tidy. The inclusion of breakfast, dinner and JR Oboke pick-up are all highlights. We arrived at Oboke Station at 7:30 in the evening and made an appointment with the hotel to pick us up in advance. We were the only two passengers getting off at the small Oboke station. We were pleasantly surprised to find snowflakes floating in the sky and moved to see that the pick-up driver was standing by the platform holding a sign waiting for us. The hotel has both indoor and outdoor hot springs. We stayed here for one night and went to Fujibashi and Oboke for a cruise the next day. We didn't have to rush and could soak in the hot springs, which was very comfortable.
