Beautiful estate located in a valley between rocky mountains with a view on Montagu. The central lodge, as well as the individual houses that accommodate the rooms are well appointed; the welcome was very warm and hospitable. Diner is in a sunny room overlooking the dam and the olive trees and delicious; also the breakfast buffet is charmingly laid out and complemented by a choice of hot dishes. The early morning guided tour is recommended. The hotel has a lovely swimming pool and beautiful gardens. Montagu is a nice town with historic buildings.

From the moment the reservation was confirmed by Chrisma (Assistant Estate Manager), my wife and just new that this was going to be an unforgettable and most memorable visit ever - the rooms are worthy of the 5* rating and offers above average amenities - the views from all the rooms are reminding of a village in Switzerland - the service is perfect and Chrisma, one of those hospitality members that will exhaust all avenues to contribute to a comfortable visit - this lady is truly among the best ever experienced - it would be great if more of her type can be visible in some other properties - our host Charles in the restaurant is likely the most knowledgeable and able to guide you around the different offerings of the surrounding areas - the chef too is simply the best - a highly recommended property for those with an appreciation for the finer things in life - will certainly return when next down in Cape Town, South Africa.

Amazing 🤩 stay at this lodge , great vibes , the room are very confortable , the site is also very good for hiking .if I may recommend one person at the hotel is Charles , he took so good care of our party .He knows everything about hospitality and should have a great career in front of him , the owners should be proud of having him in the team , he raises your flag very high . I would also like to express my thanks to Patty who took us on a hike , she is a good professional with lots of knowledge about the environment in Montagu , we had a good hike because of her. Hikes are recommended in the area.

A real find in a stunning location.
An absolute find in this beautiful part of the Karoo. The atmosphere and style is that of a traditional Game Lodge. The food is excellent with a team to match. There are several designated walks within the estate for all levels of ability. The one thing we noticed is how immaculately clean the whole place was, with the pool being the cleanest we've experienced throughout our travels in SA. The only downside is that there is no A/C in the bedrooms (there's a ceiling fan), which can make it a little hot during the night. I guess one could open the windows and allow the air in, but the mosquitos tend to come along too.

Galenia Estate is a few km outside Montagu in 550 ha of beautiful natural flora. The cottages are top notch with a very comfortable bed, views, nice amenities, a fireplace, and a large bathtub. Perfect for have a glass of wine and letting the days activities melt away. The food there was absolutely stupendous! Everything was fresh and delicious. I really wish they would open a restaurant in Cape Town. I'd be there every week. They grounds were lovely to walk on. Saw an ostrich who kept us amused. There was a pool and hot tub, but sadly we didn't have time to partake. The service was outstanding. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the Montagu area.

We’ve been to Montagu before but decided to try somewhere different this tme. A nice place with comfy and spacious rooms, each with its own fireplace all set up and ready ‘to go. A stocked minibar that can be charged to your room. A large bathroom with a huge tub and separate shower, plus an enclosed toilet. The communal areas were lovely and very comfortable with a fully stocked bar…fortunately as we had one day when the weather was awful and it was a lovely ‘nesting’ spot. Breakfast and dinner was very nice. And some interesting walks nearby. A quick drive to Montagu itself where there are a few restaurant options if you wont to eat away from the lodge. As a summary I would definitely go back again.

This was our second visit and it was as good as our first. The rooms are lovely, large and beds and showers are comfortable. Meals are good. Breakfast is included, while lunch and dinner are optional. Dinner is a choice of two meals (meat and veg) with tasty soup and starter and dessert. It's a great spot to use as a base to explore the area and the GM is highly visble and actively asks for feedback every day so issues can be addressed.
