I was “ upgraded” to a larger room which was probably twice the size of the one I booked. Room as described with sitting area- lovely period furniture in half a house. Amenities as described on webpage.Nice bathroom. Good quality towels & sheets. Decent efficiency kitchen. Not described is that many of the cottages are right on a road. Mine was on 2 roads, one major. An “upgrade”?! I have never spent this much money on a room & had to wear earplugs to sleep. More like bait & switch. There is a RR track on the bottom edge of the property, but I don’t know if it is active. I did not hear trains, thank goodness! My issue with the accommodation, other than road noise, was the window opposite the bed had a mini-shade that could not be lowered to block out light/ provide privacy. All the windows had shades with curtains that do not cover the windows- serve only as decorations. The window shade behind the bed is missing a slat. So, don’t expect a dark room for sleeping. The website does state the rooms have down pillows. However, I have never been in a hotel that advertises down pillows and doesn’t have non-down pillows for those of us allergic to down. This hotel has ONLY down, so bring your own pillow!!!! The TV can’t be seen from the bed. To see the channel guide, I had to get out of bed… The grounds were well maintained, & I didn’t see any sidewalk issues. But there are a lot of steps depending which cottage you are in. There is an elevator to get up to Registration. Fitness room was adequate with one machine It’s the kind of property that one would expect to be peaceful & quiet. Perhaps it was- once. Noise. light. Allergies. Not what I was expecting. Especially for the price.
