Convenient location near attractions and dining options. Spacious, vintage-style rooms with comfortable beds. Disappointing grab-and-go breakfast with small, unappetizing portions. No brunch option available.

This was a late birthday gift to me from my fiance she booked back in January. She had booked for us two massages and dinner at Krazy Kats restaurant which is on site. We were so excited and when we arrived on time for our Massage appointment they looked at us like we had two heads. They told us they had been hacked and they lost all the info in their computer since that had no one else scheduled for a massage that day they did not have massage therapist on that day. Two things when they were hacked since it was only their system that got hacked the Inn should have contacted every one who had reservations to see if anyone had a massage scheduled. Second they offered nothing for our inconvenience. 3rd while checking out the girl in by registration did not even acknowledge us when checking out no have a nice day how was your visit etc. The room was nice too many stairs . Krazy Kats was great if your in the area eat their. We just wont be going back you pay high end dollars for mediocre service.

I was “ upgraded” to a larger room which was probably twice the size of the one I booked. Room as described with sitting area- lovely period furniture in half a house. Amenities as described on webpage.Nice bathroom. Good quality towels & sheets. Decent efficiency kitchen. Not described is that many of the cottages are right on a road. Mine was on 2 roads, one major. An “upgrade”?! I have never spent this much money on a room & had to wear earplugs to sleep. More like bait & switch. There is a RR track on the bottom edge of the property, but I don’t know if it is active. I did not hear trains, thank goodness! My issue with the accommodation, other than road noise, was the window opposite the bed had a mini-shade that could not be lowered to block out light/ provide privacy. All the windows had shades with curtains that do not cover the windows- serve only as decorations. The window shade behind the bed is missing a slat. So, don’t expect a dark room for sleeping. The website does state the rooms have down pillows. However, I have never been in a hotel that advertises down pillows and doesn’t have non-down pillows for those of us allergic to down. This hotel has ONLY down, so bring your own pillow!!!! The TV can’t be seen from the bed. To see the channel guide, I had to get out of bed… The grounds were well maintained, & I didn’t see any sidewalk issues. But there are a lot of steps depending which cottage you are in. There is an elevator to get up to Registration. Fitness room was adequate with one machine It’s the kind of property that one would expect to be peaceful & quiet. Perhaps it was- once. Noise. light. Allergies. Not what I was expecting. Especially for the price.

I had always wanted to try this Inn because it looked like such an idyllic peaceful setting. I pictured long walks early in the morning in the countryside. My biggest disappointment was to discover that the Inn straddles a very busy intersection with 2 roads cutting through the property and cars whizzing past you all times of day. It is not pedestrian friendly at all. There are no walking paths to speak of, no sidewalks no shops or restaurants within walking distance. Their restaurant Krazy Kats is not open for breakfast except one day a week so you get the feeling of being stranded in an intersection in the middle of nowhere. Also impossible to explore the surrounding countryside as there are no sidewalks between you and the whizzing cars. Even at 7 am the cars were relentless. On the positive side:The main building is a converted bard with a huge fireplace and sitting area and is beautiful with wood beams everywhere and comfortable couches and chairs. there is a spa and small gym attached to this building. The other buildings in the complex look nice from the outside a little less historic from the inside but with nice features like a kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator. and Keurig coffee maker. The room was nice enough if not spectacular. Ours was the top floor of one of the buildings which was most likely an attic at one time with windows at knee level which gave a bit of a closed in feeling despite the high ceiling. My sister had a room on a lower floor with windows at eye level and that was much nicer so I would recommend trying to avoid the rooms on the top floors. The shower was very good with strong hot water. Be aware the Inn does not automatically clean your room. You have to request it. This requirement is explained on a slip of paper placed in our room which we missed because we accidentally covered it up with our bags so we lost the opportunity. This requirement is not mentioned at check in so if you go you might want to make a point of requesting your room be cleaned when you do check in when we called the front desk they explained the note and then we found it. they did walk over new towels immediately which was nice. There is a restaurant but it has very limited hours and is not open for breakfast except for brunch on Sundays which is a real shame as there is no restaurants or cafes within walking distance. I understand the Inn used to offer pastries in the morning but discontinued that practice. Having the restaurant open would have been a nice service for the guests. We usually stay at Hotel Dupont which offers very luxurious rooms and a location next to shops and restaurants at about the same price. We tried the Inn mostly to experience the tranquility of the country but that isn't what we found so this will probably be our last visit.

Sadly, the inn’s charm has definitely faded, with basic service in short supply. In a rural location, with no amenities within walking distance, it has discontinued breakfast service—not even pastries offered in the morning. There’s a Keurig, microwave and small refrigerator in each room but no place nearby to buy groceries. There’s no maid service unless you call the day before, and when our group arrived, most guests were left to struggle carrying their luggage up stairs to their rooms. In my room, neither the gas fireplace or telephone worked, and one of the Venetian blinds was broken. It’s most definitely not a place to stay unless you have a car.

Very nice historic property that was part of housing for the DuPont company. Each room is unique-we stayed in two Classic rooms in the restored yellow house, each was very nice. The property is quiet and close to several DuPont attractions; we visited Nemours and the Hagley Museum which I highly recommend.

Beautiful, classy, with more than a pinch of historical.....Ann the manager is a true professional, and it shows. We have family in the area and plan to return again soon for the next engagement, shower, baby gender reveal, or holiday! There are several varieties of rooms available, and is nearby to dining and shopping. A must stay.

Good stay in a beautiful area. My daughters and I spent several nights here. We had a two bedroom townhouse. Each room had its own bath. Bathrooms were very spacious and modernized. There are multiple buildings and many options for spaces with several bedrooms. The landscaping and grounds are inviting and peaceful. Great location if you are heading to Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, or Philadelphia.

This is a wonderful inn. I would highly recommend it. The staff treated us so well. It is in a beautiful part of the country, with many great attractions nearby. We especially enjoyed our hike at Brandywine Creek State Park, which was just a mile away.
