Hotel Reale

I had my doubts after reading some of the reviews, but there was no need to have worried After travelling along a few narrow streets and thinking where have we come we arrived at a lovely hotel with a very pretty courtyard full of trees, shrubs and plants, an ideal spot to sit at any time of the day. We were greeted warmly by a lovely receptionist who spoke excellent English. Our room wasn’t ready but that didn’t cause any problem because we could leave our luggage and we wanted some lunch. Ordered lunch at the hotel and was very pleased with it Our room was on the 4th floor, but the lift was adequate for us and our luggage, and what a lovely, spacious room it was. There was a sun terrace on one side, great for morning coffee, and a balcony on another which had the evening sun. Bed was very firm but big and we slept well so it didn’t matter. There was plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. The shutters are a bit antiquated, but work and darkened the room for sleeping Shower room was very nice, there is a step up to the walk in shower but, even with us having mobility issues, this didn’t cause a problem Rooms were tidied and cleaned daily. There was teas, coffee, milk and sugar provided which were replenished daily and a small kettle. The fridge had bottled water in which was added to the bill if used. Breakfast choices available were scrambled egg and bacon, cereals and cakes non of which I tried, but I did have the breads, meat, cheese and croissants. There was also a pancake machine and toaster with a selection of preserves and butter. Help yourself to drinks from the machine and even take one outside into the shaded courtyard Evening meal was a different menu each evening with a choice for starter and mains but only one option for dessert. The choice was limited but adequate and everything I had was very tasty. No need to be hungry as there was also a cold buffet with vegetables, salads and breads. If you don’t finish all your bottle of wine they will keep it for the next evening or you can just take it outside to finish off. The staff were very nice and friendly and most spoke very good English. Didn’t use the swimming pool but it did look inviting The hotel is within walking distance of the main town and we walked to the Fenicular Railway and recommend you take the trip up to Montecatini Alto for lunch

We stayed here late June as part of a travel zoo deal. We found the hotel staff super helpful and almost all of them spoke perfect English. The rooms are basic but clean and the air conditioning was welcome and needed, as the weather was hot. The food was good and cooked well. There was extra salad, vegetables and couscous on a centrally placed table, which topped up your main meal. Breakfast was basic but plentiful. All in all, a very positive experience and we would recommend and return. Montecatini has fantastic features and the funicular to Alto is a must. The area was hit hard during the pandemic and many buildings are standing empty, which is a crying same because the town has so much charm and potential! Transport by train is easy and cheap. You are situated perfectly to visit Lucca, Florence and Pisa. We even took the train to Viareggio for a day at the beach.

Had 5 nights at this hotel, perfect for exploring nearby amenities,as it was central to nearly everything. Room was adequate no fridge or kettle, initially the air con was not available due to the weather not being hot enough but was switched on later. Food was basic but with a varied menu, drinks always available. Staff were really friendly and helpful nothing was too much, hotel was clean and tidy. If we had a gripe it was not enough fresh fruit or salad.

We booked our 4 night visit to Tuscany through Travelzoo and Travelodeal. The price and the added extras seemed a bit too good to be true but it turned out to be much better than expected ! The deal included flights to Pisa , 4 nights full board in the lovely Hotel Reale, welcome glass of Prosecco on arrival , bottle of wine on the table, trip on the funicular railway to the beautiful village of Montecatini Alto where a wine tasting visit was included . We were greeted by Angelina in the reception who, along with the rest of the team, made us so welcome during our stay , nothing was too much trouble . The food was good, wholesome Italian fare with a fabulous breakfast each morning and superb dinner each evening. Travel around the area was so easy too ! We arrived in Pisa, paid €1.8 on the bus to go and see the Leaning Tower then it was €5 on the train to Montecatini Terme which took just over an hour. The hotel was 5 mins walk from the station so superbly located in the centre of the town. Trips to nearby Lucca and Florence were really easy on the excellent trains and were only an hour away. One evening, the hotel arranged tickets to an Opera evening which was amazing and a real experience to hear live Opera in Italy. All in all we had a fabulous time and also can’t thank the Team at Traveodeal for doing such a great job with all the arrangements and extra little things like twin beds in one of the rooms and a vegan option for two people in our group of 8. Massive thanks to everyone.

Very pleasant week in this friendly hotel, close to centre and railway station. Very good value as breakfast & evening 3 course meal included. Plenty of choice for breakfast, but meal in evening not very varied, but plenty of it (and the wine was good). My room (single) small & basic, but all one needed. For me the bed was very hard. If I had to spend much time in the room, it would have been a bit depressing - but hotel & garden/pool very nice and staff good.

Very friendly hotel, great value for money. Hotel staff were very accommodating. Particular mention to be made to receptionists Angela and Sara, who gave lots of information on places to visit and arranged taxis for us. Unfortunately on our arrival to Pisa there was a national train strike which left us stranded but Sara organised a taxi to pick us up and collect us at short notice for which we were extremely grateful!
