Park Hotel

The room was average. And needs a refit. And inside the building as well. The food was cold when it came out of the kitchen. The porridge was hot and that was my highlight of staying in a run down hotel. The staff needs better training. Only some of them. Had the right attitude.

Had a family party last night the meals were excellent I had the steak which was perfect well seasoned and cooked just how I like it the staff looked after us well and we had a good night I would recommend it for family and just to go out and have a lovely meal

When working away from home I usually stay in a Premier Inn but there isn’t one in the area. The security of a Premier Inn is you know what to expect re cleanliness etc. but sometimes an independent hotel can surpass my expectations. Sadly not at the Park Hotel. I received a warm welcome at reception (although no offer of help upstairs with my luggage) but not on entering my room. The radiator had been turned off. Poor to arrive in a cold room in December on a wintry night. On first glance the decor looked ok but I soon noticed that the walls were scuffed, stained and even parcel tape stuck on the corner of a wall. The radiator in the bathroom didn’t heat up and the water in the shower didn’t get more than lukewarm the next morning. On the plus side, dinner and breakfast was good. But the overall experience isn’t one I’d want to repeat.

Very upset eat out regular got cheese board Brie was so hard stand a fork up in it. Advised chef always serves like this straight fridge Usually Brie is out of fridge at least 30 mins prior to serving Asked for another type cheese instead cold hard Brie Was given a couple biscuits and bit blue cheese the rest of my cheese board pickle marg and untouched cheddar not returned and the waiter just looked at me Also grapes on original platter were old like prunes Totally unacceptable and when l asked for a reduction for abismal cheese board was still charged feel should be compensated or won’t be back and as lm local and eat out a lot friends and family this is unacceptable

We had a spacious , comfortable room with very comfy beds. Staff were very nice. The hotel appears to be doing some refurbishment which will improve corridors and the tatty windowsill in our room. The dinners were excellent as was the choice on the menu. If you're in Montrose I'd definitely say go there for dinner. Breakfast was OK but they should raise their game in little ways. There was lovely Bon maman honey in little jars but cheap catering jam and marmalade in plastic packs. That's inconsistent. The biscuits in the rooms were great quality too, so keep up the quality across everything. It would be great to have had the chance for a croissant and/or small pastry at breakfast too. And there was no potato productcwirh the cooked breakfast. Surely a ovely Scottish potato scone would be a perfect addition? Sausages were amazing. 😄

Ideal location, within easy walking distance of the beach, high street, train station. Friendly, helpful staff. Everything was spotlessly clean. The room was large, the beds very comfortable. Nice big bathroom, the water pressure in the shower was better than mine at home! The evening meals in the restaurant were delicious. Buffet style breakfast, with hot or cold options. Honestly can't fault the place, everything about it was great. 10 out of 10 all round!
