Casa de Los Bates

At the end of our trip we were really looking forward to the accommodation, a small oasis of peace with a pool to relax in. As advertised on the website, we were looking forward to an "intimate atmosphere" and "guarantee the tranquility of our guests"...... Unfortunately, that was not the case at all! Shortly after our arrival at lunchtime, a large (at least 60 people) baptism party took place and in no time at all the pool was literally flooded with 16 children. There was no trace of peace. After all the staff and catering were busy serving the guests, we asked for cutlery so we could eat our own little snack. An extremely unfriendly chef (seemed to be stressed, but that was no excuse!) forbade us from using the terrace on the grounds that there was a party going on all day. The fact that the baptism took place on the other side of the house/in the garden did not count. We were "hidden" in the lounge in the basement. After actively asking, we were told that the party would last until 8 p.m., but that we could then enjoy our "peace and quiet" by the pool and in the garden. However, we had not booked a hotel where we could go to the pool at night... The next day (Sunday) another party was planned with slightly fewer people. This was not the stay we had imagined and neither on the hotel's website, nor in the description of ***********, nor in the email communication beforehand did we get told that we should expect two events. If we had known this in advance, we would not have booked this hotel. In response to this explanation, the hotel manager replied that we should have actively asked ourselves (!!), but on the other hand he said that there were always parties in every Spanish hotel in the summer. Having been to Spain several times and lived there for a long time myself, I can contradict that from experience... something like that has actually never happened to me before. After 2 hours we left the accommodation. The cancellation fee, which was significantly too high (according to *********** 50%, the accommodation charged us 75%) also annoyed us, and we are still awaiting a response on this matter. We will probably never see the money again, and unfortunately the manager did not give an honest impression. Rooms: On the one hand, beautiful old rooms with charm, on the other hand, the rooms have no ceiling lighting and are only lit by 2 bedside lamps. This makes the room very dark overall. All rooms are in the basement, but the pictures on the website are of rooms on the 1st floor, CAVEAT.

I don't think I've ever been so badly received in a hotel! A teenager shows us the room and gives us the hours of breakfast. And then, for the rest, there is NOBODY! We manage, we search. No reception. There are 4 deckchairs at the pool. HOT pool and very little water. It looks like an old bath for kings… Packets of cigarettes are lying around the edge of the swimming pool. No bar, no one to offer you a drink. For breakfast, we looked for where it was. There was nobody. The teenager who bathed her feet in the pool was asked. we received a roll cut in half and we had the choice between jam and Spanish pâté in an aluminum tray!!! A juice and a glass of water. A tomato soup. POINT. If you're still hungry, too bad! Crazy for a hotel of this style! Certainly, the room is beautiful and the house and its gardens are charming. But it stops there! Motril is a seaside resort without any interest.

Espectacular Palecete cerca de Motril. Romántico, discreto y elegante ideal para unos días en pareja. Las zonas comunes muy agradables y los jardines excelentes. Nosotros tuvimos la Suite Havana, muy romántica. Julio y su equipo super agradables.

Histórico palacio que bien merece una visita. Hemos hecho un tour guiado por sus estancias, jardines y patios de la mano de Iñaki para conocer toda su historia y anécdotas. Además de un repaso por la variedad de su precioso jardín botánico. Sin duda de 10 Volveremos para probar su cocina, variedad en la carta y precios bastante razonables.
