The staircase leading to the upper level is open to the living area. The staircase leading to the lower level is enclosed.The Upper Level has 2 additional bedrooms and 2 full baths. There is a landing that looks over the great room below.The Lower Level has a family room with a 60” LG OLED Smart TV that is connected to router with an Ethernet cable, 3 bedrooms, a large full bath, and laundry area with new washer.The WIFI plan is with Frontier and was just updated Spring 2023. The lot is very natural, so there are windows of views from the home. The lower level has a patio under the above deck with porch swings.What we love about our home: The round design offers an open and airy flow to enjoy the views and interacting with family and friends. Our lot is mature and naturally wooded to offer privacy. Our community is gated and offers walking trails and lots of wildlife. You will feel like you are tucked away in a peaceful place, and yet you are only minutes from town.The property has a series of stairs that lead to the dock. We suggest children should always be accompanied by an adult. We also recommend a well-planned list before walking down to the platform and dock. You will get your exercise on those stairs. See photos.The garage is open to the guest. It also houses the gas grill, fire pit, and trash containers. These items should stay in the garage due to wildlife. Do not leave them sitting out unattended. Additional paddles or vest may be stored here if needed. The grill and the fire pit are only to be used on the driveway, not on the deck due to fire risk.The home is set up for 12 guests and we provide linens, towels, kitchenware including kid’s flatware and cups, a drip coffee machine and a Keurig. We do not have any infant items, such as gates, cribs, or highchairs.Marion is the closest town, about a 15-minute drive, and Morganton is about a 30-minute drive. Asheville is an hour away, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and Boone are also about an hour drive. The private dock offers space to keep a rented boat. **The owner has a 25ft Bennington pontoon available for an additional daily fee of $450 or ask about a weekly discount. This rental is separate from the Vrbo booking. Ask the agent to refer you to the boat contact where you can discuss exact pricing.**The gated community is privately maintained and roads must be shared. This is a one lane road with turnouts and directional signs for owners. Directions will be supplied prior to arrival date. We recommend that, in Winter months, guests check weather conditions prior to booking and drive appropriate vehicles.The home's layout is very spacious and offers two levels of living space. The main level offers a den off the entryway with lake views, a large bedroom with 2 beds to one side, and 2 additional bedrooms on the other side. There are 2 full hall baths on this level, one is ensuite.The upper level has a large open floor plan with the kitchen, dining, and living room. This level has open long range lake views as well. The screen porch is off the dining room and offers lake and mountain views. The master bedroom is on the upper level with a full ensuite bath. The half bath is located off the kitchen and dining area. The laundry is on this level behind closed doors off the kitchen. There are lake views from almost every room of this home and plenty of exterior areas to enjoy just hanging out and relaxing. *We just completed an internet upgrade to StarLink.* Our community is remote, gated, and on a private road, so we do not have established portals available to us at this time. This is a common issue around Lake James. If you need to stream, please disconnect all other devices so that you have the strongest signal possible. Lake James is conveniently located between Charlotte and Asheville, NC. We are about an hour from regional/international airports if needed. You'll feel a thousand miles away in your mountainside vacation home, yet you are only 20-30 minutes from the culture and conveniences of Asheville and Black Mountain. There are numerous hiking trails, streams and rivers, and waterfalls all nearby in the neighborhood. Wildlife is abundant in the Preserve. The most common animals that you may encounter are deer, wild turkey, rabbits, birds, fox, and black bears.The Property:The property is very peaceful and sits on 2 acres with breathtaking views all around. The large deck and covered patio have plenty of seating. The large back deck is perfect for entertaining with a hot tub, BBQ grill, dinner table with seating for 6, cozy outdoor furniture in the covered section and even a gas fire table. The outdoor spaces are the perfect spot for relaxing and watching the sunset as well as enjoying the mountain views and listening to the sounds of nature.
