Marriott's luxury hotel, opened for more than 3 months, is located between the old town of Munich and the central train station. The basic room is not large, but it is enough. From the first moment of our arrival and throughout our stay, the recently-opened Koenigshof (part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection) went above and beyond in providing exemplary service. In the US, Marriott Platinum Elite (my current tier) tends not to mean the most. Here at Koenigshof, I was greeted and treated like a celebrity for my mid-week stay. Champagne at check-in, and a complimentary upgrade to a corner room Junior Suite, which had beautiful views overlooking both Karlsplatz, the tram line, the city gate to Old Town, and the Palace of Justice. One could feel immersed in the beat and rhythm of the city just by looking out from the floor-to-ceiling window views! An added bonus was remote control blackout curtains and sunshades, each transforming the room experience, allowing us to “enter into” or retreat from the pulse of the city life before us. Heated commode, rain shower head, nightly turn-down service, and a beautiful in-room bar offering completed the stay. Due to previously planned activities, I was so disappointed to miss the “Epicurean Moment” they offer in lobby area in the late afternoons. However, the rooftop restaurant on 9th floor was the site of several exquisite breakfasts we enjoyed, with views matching that of our room. Noticeably fresh and nourishing ingredients in all the fare. The steamed apricots served alongside Nutella pancakes were a wonderful touch, along with kiwi juice and a perfectly made latte. I want to give a special shout out to hotel staff who went out of their way for me: Fabio, who was so gracious and welcoming upon arrival AND got us a reservation with only 20 minutes advance notice at an iconic restaurant I’d remembered visiting 30 years ago. Aileen of the 9th floor restaurant, who was a wonderfully attentive and engaging server and even remembered my name on our second day. Carolina of the 9th floor restaurant was also very solicitous, and these two women together made our dining experience a highlight of each day. I would come back to this hotel just for the privilege of being again welcomed by these 3 people! So helpfully located within easy walking distance of Marienplatz and old town attractions, this very special property really delivers on the boutique hotel experience, and it is definitely one I would hope to return to in the future.

This hotel does not cater at all to business travelers. Rooms are very dark and there is no comfortable furniture to sit on, and only a tiny desk. There was no business center, and since I needed to print out several things for a conference, that was really inconvenient. Finally, for a hotel this pricy, views should be better (see picture). Not coming back here.
