This child- and family-friendly all-inclusive hotel occupies extensive grounds in beautiful Upper Styria.
Located in the heart of the Mürzer Oberland Nature Reserve, Kinderhotel Appelhof is about 75 miles from both Vienna and Graz.
This renovated former farmhouse features spacious “fairy tale apartments” with separate bedrooms for parents (with four-poster bed) and children (with motifs from fairy tales).
At the Appelhof all meals and drinks are included in the price. Rich buffets are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Baby food is also available.
The “Märchenburg” (fairy tale castle) is a 10,000 ft² indoor playground on 2 levels. The outdoor playground is an amazing 20 acres in size, which is bigger than 12 soccer fields. There you will find a pony ranch, a petting zoo (goats, bunnies, small cows, llamas, owls), a trampoline facility, a pirate ship, a big sandbox, a bouncing castle, go-carts, electric cars, a climbing wall, and much more.
The children's club provides professional child and baby daycare every day between 9 am and 7 pm. A varied entertainment program (children's club , game evenings, crafts, etc.) is also offered.
Many activities are offered for children and adults alike, including river crossings, rappelling, climbing, bouldering, campfires with barbecue, building an igloo in winter, hikes, etc. Bicycles are also available (free of charge for children, at a small fee for adults).
In winter an easy ski slope and a mini ski school are available. Ski equipment for children is included in the price. There is also a ski rental (also for cross-country skis and skates). Sleds can be rented free of charge.
Baby monitors, strollers, back carriers, bottle warmers, baby bathtubs etc. are available for the youngest guests.
After an eventful day you can relax in the pool area, featuring a baby pool, an indoor and an outdoor pool, or in Kinderhotel Appelhof's spa area.

Most wonderful experience a family with kids can experience. Its a hotel where children will be able to do great activities with the monitors and parents are also able to participate. The entire premises are like Disneyland for those who love outdoor activities and there is plenty of support for parents with children from all ages especially those that have newly born. The restaurant is another wonderful place to enjoy a great meal with your loved ones. The food is tasty and made to match the desires of all generations that spend their vacation in Appelhof. I highly recommend for all the parents that want to provide an unforgettable vacation and Im sure many will leave the hotel making next year’s holiday reservations.

Wir waren mit 4 kleinen Kindern (4,5,6,9) im Mai 2022 für 3 Tage im Appelhof. Die Anlage ist riesig und ich war sehr erleichtert, dass wir im Haupthaus untergebracht waren. Das Essen war wirklich gut, reichlich und in Höhe der Kinder. Die Tische wurden auch sehr rasch abgeräumt und das Personal war insgesamt freundlich. Die Anlage selbst ist nicht perfekt- hier und da müsste wieder renoviert werden, jedoch ist alles im Rahmen und für 4-Sterne in Ordnung. Gestört hat uns, dass es auf der Anlage keinen Raum gibt, in dem Waschmaschinen und Trockner benutzt werden können (wie das in anderen Kinderhotels durchaus üblich ist). Wir waren an einem regnerischen Wochenende da und hätten dringend Socken und eine Hose waschen müssen- jedoch kann man leider nur das Waschservice um 16 Eur in Anspruch nehmen. Weiters gibt es im Haupthaus eine Bobbycar "Rennstrecke" die toll für Kinder ist- jedoch würde ich um 20h die Autos einfach wegräumen, da durchaus Kinder noch in der Nacht rutschen (und auf Fliesen ist das sehr laut). Oder: ich würde Flüsterreifen anschaffen. Abgesehen davon war es für die Kinder ein Traum- es gibt soviel zu entdecken. Auch der Streichelzoo, der zweimal täglich für eine Stunde unter Aufsicht einer Tierpflegering geöffnet wird, ist super. Da haben einerseits die Kinder die Möglichkeit, Tiere am Schoss zu streicheln- andererseits haben die Tiere den Rest des Tages Ruhe. Klasse ist auch, dass die Kinder den ganzen Tag unterhalten und zufrieden waren- und das ganz ohne jegliche Bildschirme.

Wir haben ein paar schöne Tage am Appelhof verbracht. Für die Kinder ist es hier ein Traum und es fehlt an nichts. Das Buffet bietet reichhaltige Speisen an und ist nicht zu stark gewürzt, so konnte auch unser Baby gut mit essen. Eigentlich würden wir gerne wieder kommen, wenn da nicht ein paar sehr wesentliche Mankos wären: - Sauberkeit: In unserem Zimmer entdecken wir am 2. Tag Kot oder ähnliches am Abflussrohr im Badezimmer, grüne Zahnpastaflecken blieben ebenso die ganze Woche im Bad (nicht von uns) und der Waschtisch war noch von den vorigen Gästen mit Seife voll (haben wir dann geputzt weil alles glitschig war!) zumindest wurde der Kot gleich weg geputzt nachdem wir die Rezeption darüber informiert haben und auch die kaputten Glühbirnen wurden rasch gewechselt. Dennoch ekelt es mich etwas und ich will nicht wissen, wie lange hier schon nicht mehr gründlich geputzt wurde - Die Matratzen sind leider ziemlich durch gelegen und würden ersetzt gehören - Die Desinfektionsspender waren fast alle leer! - Der Boden beim Pool ist gemein gefährlich! Mein Mann ist samt Baby am Arm ausgerutscht, nachdem zuerst ich fast gestürzt bin. Ein Kind ist zweimal auf den Kopf gefallen, ebenso ausgerutscht und viele Gäste sind dahin geschlittert. Zumindest ein Hinweis wäre hier angebracht, es ist wirklich gefährlich. Das Personal ist sehr bemüht und freundlich, dennoch wird sich hier teilweise zu wenig bemüht für das was man zahlt. Ich hoffe, dass sich diese Punkte besser da es uns ansonsten wirklich gut gefallen hat.

Das überaus freundliche und kompetente Personal ist stets bemüht, auch die ausgefallensten Wünsche zu erfüllen. Die Nähe zu Wien und Graz ca. nur je 1,5 Stunden Fahrzeit ist ein weiterer großer Pluspunkt. Das ganze Areal ist autofrei und die Kinder können sich frei bewegen. Das Essen ist hervorragend, abwechslungsreich und reichhaltig. Wir kommen seit vielen Jahren immer wieder gerne. Das nahegelegene Skigebiet Niederalpl ist übersichtlich bietet aber trotzdem genügend abwechslung und ist hervorragend für Skikurse. Es ist außerdem mit dem mehrmals täglich fahrenden Shuttlebus einfach und gratis zu erreichen.

Das Kinderhotel ist ein toller Platz, um mit der Familie einen Urlaub zu verbringen. Das Essen ist super, die Leute sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Die Angebote für die Kinder sind toll. Die Betreuung im Kinderklub ist wirklich hervorragend, ebenso die Betreuung bei Aktivitäten und Bastelarbeiten. Wir kommen gerne her!

Der Appelhof wirkt weniger wie ein Hotel, mehr wie ein kleines Dorf. Teilweise „shabby chic“, rustikal, modern,… einfach toll. Das Essen war gut, reichlich und abwechslungsreich - nur die Fliegen im Buffetbereich hätten nicht sein müssen (aber jo mei, Landleben!) Unser Sohn (3 Jahre) hatte keine Minute Langeweile. Von der Vielfaltigkeit der Möglichkeiten setzt das Hotel neue Maßstäbe für uns. Zwei Anmerkungen: lichtdämmende Vorhänge oder Jalousien am Zimmer wären super; und Servucepersonal, welches zumindest 2-3 Worte Deutsch spricht.
