Nothing fancy, but a nice place for sure. We were there during some renovations since we were on the “shoulder”. Staff was very friendly and attentive. They do an amazing job g job of cleaning our hiking boots after our various Treks. Nightly fires in our room and hot water bottles made the cool evenings enjoyable.

My little cabin was adorable. It had everything I needed, including a little space heater that warmed up the room nicely. Staff member lit the fireplace each night, which also helped with heat. LOVED the hot water bottle in the bed in the evening!!!!! So toasty, all night long. Food was good, loved all the fruit and the tea/juice in the lobby. The staff in the DR was attentive and so friendly. Theo was great with holding my key and money, since there was no room safe. Loved the grounds, with the volcanos nearby, I was obsessed with staring at them 😄

A little underwhelming when we arrived at the lodge after a 3.5 hour drive through amazing mountains, agricultural fields and the cleanest country I have ever been to. But the decor and the ambience (lack of) were soon forgotten when the true worth and charm of the lodge came through with the amazing service and friendliess from the staff. The old adage you shouldn't judge a book by its cover certainly held true. The food was outstanding the rooms were spacious (room 1 was great as it was close to the main lodge and we could watch the entertainment from our bed). The swinging bathroom door was unique. The blazing fire every night in our room was fantastic and my wife loved the delivery of the hot water bottles. It was clean neat geerish but worked well. The Celine deon/Whitney houston music belting out from the pub area could have had a bit of attention - but that is taste not a complaint. The foot washing and massage after the gorilla trekking was extremely pleasant. Love that. I had a massage with Julius the local fire starter - it was extremely relaxing and well worth the usd60. The gift shop was quite pricing but had some very cool curios. The gorilla trekking was magical surreal and worth every hard earned usd cent. Guide ( Francis) was super experienced and firm and to the point. Careful considered and knowledgeable. The porter James was a very enthusiastic addition you our party. We trekked the SUSA group. BEAUTIFUL the Silverback was very disinterested in us but he certainly displayed himself well for the hour we were there. Tips: gators, rain jacket, (can be hired from lodge shop for usd5 each) water a hat sunglasses long sleeved shirt and pants. What a trip. Thank you Gilbert Julius and staff of mountain view gorilla lodge. Hopefully we shall see you again.

This is a very friendly place to stay and rest and recover from daily trips. Staff could not do enough for us. It was the summer but it's quite a high elevation and gets cool at night. We had a fire lit in our hut/room every night and hot water bottles!

We came to Mountain Gorilla View in September as the first part of our honeymoon. Our guide was Pacifique who was incredible, nothing was too much and we really enjoyed our few days with him. This hotel is a great location, the views are amazing and it really does feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. It was very local to the Gorilla trekking check in and start points which was really useful when getting up in the morning. The rooms were basic but clean and there was a large amount of space. There was only wifi in the living room area but it was a nice comfortable area and we enjoyed having a drink there after our evening meal. The food was nice, some variety but it was buffet style so had been sitting there a while sometimes. The staff were amazing, very friendly and went the extra mile for us. We would definitely recommend.

This was our favorite stay of our Africa trip because of the warm hospitality from the staff! Excellent healthy and delicious food options at every meal. Delicious homemade ginger tea and espresso based coffee. Calm and peaceful environment with beautiful grounds. Coming back from gorilla trekking they offer to clean your boots and provide a foot massage - the boots come back looking better than when you bought them! At night they have people go around with fire coals to start the fireplace in your room. They also deliver warm hot water bags to your room. The only downside is no WiFi in the rooms, and there could be some better walkway lighting to get to the rooms at night as it can be hard to see. I hope to come back to this lodge one day and will absolutely recommend it to friends and family!!!

MGVL is a great mid-range lodge located near Volcanoes National Park. Service is excellent with great attention paid to guest comfort and satisfaction. Cabins are large and comfortable with the staff coming by to light the fireplace on cool nights. There is an enthusiastic nightly dance program featuring local talent. Food is good quality and reasonably varied. We loved the baby bananas and passion fruit for breakfast. Bar is well stocked.

This was an incredibly comfortable accommodation for our visit to Musanze and the Volcanoes National Park. The meals being included made our trip very easy. Complimentary foot massages post our gorilla trek was a nice touch. The best part of our stay was the staff. They were very friendly and attentive. We loved the fires in our room fireplaces and hot water bottles in our beds at night.

We absolutely loved this property and our experience. There are a couple little idiosyncrasies to note. The rooms are large but somewhat slapdashly constructed, however the only real negatives are the lack of bathroom door, the large gap under the front door, and that the showers are incredibly slippery. The bed was huge and comfortable, and the outlets were convenient. The meals and drink selection were good. No wifi in the rooms but good enough in the ample common area. The staff was all very kind and helpful, and the man who comes by with hot coals for the fireplace was much appreciated and the team who cleaned our muddy boots did a frankly unbelievable job, although the slippers they provided were dingy and a bit gross. The musical performance in the evening against the backdrop of the Virunga Mountains was truly special and we will never forget it. I will point out that the constant parade of visitors to our room to provide unnecessary little services, each needing a tip, became extremely tiresome by the second night. We don’t mind tipping for good service, but we felt it was a bit over the top. Plus we like our privacy and after traveling around the world to get there, we would’ve appreciated a little peace and quiet in the room. Otherwise a remarkable accommodation in one of the most amazing places on earth.
