Mövenpick Hotel and Hotel Apartments Ghala Muscat

We stayed for 8 nights at the Movenpick Muscat. Upon arrival I tried to add breakfast, but it was working out as a little too expensive for me at 7OMR per day per person. They did however upgrade us to a three bed apartment instead of the two bed that we had originally booked and I decided not to accept the offer of the breakfast at the discounted rate. The apartment was based in the building adjacent to the building with the reception and lobby. That building is open to the public and not manned by anyone at any time. The lifts need an active key card to be used so I guess how this can be seen as a form of security. However, I did at times feel that this security was required. The apartment was clean and spacious and the additional room was welcome in order to separate my two teenagers. Each room has a TV, wardrobe and hangers. One room had a king bed, the other had a double and the last had two single beds. There was a communal sitting area and a kitchen. There was two bathrooms and one toilet room. The kitchen was kitted out with a washing machine, cooker, microwave and coffee machine. There was crockery and cutely which was useful when we ordered food in. An iron and ironing board had also been provided. There were amenities in all three bathrooms. The beds are comfortable as are the pillows and other bedding. The air conditioning unit works well and there is a modern controller in each room. For us, the WiFi is as hit and miss. Often it would cut out or just not work. The entire week we had issues with it. Another thing that was frustrating was that the hot water tap needs to be run for around ten minutes before you get any actual hot water. In fact the first day we had to get an engineer called out as we were not used to this. Each bathroom has a bath and shower curtain. The shower curtain really put me off and is quite discoloured with dirt at the bottom. Housekeeping had extremely high standards and each time our room was made up, it was made up to a high standard. Housekeeping staff were lovely and attentive to how we liked things. The pool area is nice and clean and there is a jacuzzi too. There is a sauna and steam room for both men and women. There is also a games room with a table tennis table. I think a big thing for me is that the building we were situated in not having security. It was incredibly quiet. Overall we had a good trip. The hotel were kind enough to grant a late checkout.
