Twp things make this an outstanding hotel. firstly the staff are friendly and helpful. Secondly the food. Breakfast was excellent with a rotating menu of either western or Japanese breakfast. The dinner menu was also rotating over 5 nights and after e had the first dinner it was hard to go out as the quality was so high and the convenience made it so easy to eat in (if we booked in the morning). On the Tapas and Music night, the standout dish was the Tuna although all the options were delicious, i went to the tapas on 2 separate nights so managed all options.

Can not fault the service and experience of staying in this hotel. We are a family of 4, and the family room was amazing, with a heated shower room, huge beds, comfortable lounge area and coffee machines. The staff are a real stand out. They were amazing an coordinating our skiing equipment, getting us to lessons and around the town and suggesting restaurants and things to try. They are happy to drop and pick you up with the shuttle if you are going to dinner or need to run to the ATM etc. The restaurant is amazing, serving a decent breakfast with amazing coffee, and great themed dinners. They accommodated my kids with a kids menu. Many of the staff are Australian, so they speak great English and the Accommodation Manager Rina, was so welcoming and helpful. The drying room, washer and dryer is really helpful for some of the snowier days we had when there. The location is great, across the road from the Kanko gondola, and they will drop you to your lessons at near by Onsen in the morning if you have those booked. Many of the buses to the other resorts, snow monkeys and local attractions leave from across the road making it very convenient. Can't wait to visit again. And on a side note, it is worthwhile skiing Sugi, Madaro and Arai if you are staying for a while, definitely worth the visit as they all offer something different.

Join a very convenient location and super friendly staff and you've got a winner. Spent a week with the family and enjoyed every day. Lucky to have great snow to complement the already positive experience. The young people running the small, cozy hotel were as friendly and accommodating as anyone can ask and went beyond their duty to make sure we had a lovely experience. Thank you.

What made our stay at Akakura Onsen so memorable was the attention, service and guidance of all the staff at Silverhorn. Even before our arrival, Rina helped us with restaurant reservations, which was much appreciated as some of the smaller traditional places like Sessina and Udon No Fu had very limited seating. The in-house chef Grant served freshly baked bread every morning with the Japanese/Western breakfast. The highlight was Grant’s 3 course degustation dinner of smoked duck breast, beef cheek pasta and chocolate fondet. All our needs and enquires about the various ski runs and onsens were answered by Rina, Riki, Lauren, Paige, Tom, Paige and Ollie. We will certainly be back.

The service was excellent. The food here is outstanding. Compliments to the chef. There was no need to eat out as this place is all you could ever want. The hotel is located just across from akakura Kanko gondola. Whilst the ski resorts are fairly small, you avoid the crowds like in Niseko and have a more authentic Japanese experience. We definitely will come back again.

The ambiance in this remote ski village restaurant inside the Hotel Silverhorn is superb! I highly recommend this restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. The chef impressively makes everything from scratch including the broth, bread and even the yeast! Even the kids meal was a lovely lasagne with a side of sweet roasted vegetables. The restaurant primarily hosts it's hotel guests for dinners but if the guests opt to eat out, this opens seating availability. So be sure to book ahead.

My family (husband and two young adult daughters) had a fabulous 8 nights at Silverhorn!!! Fantastic and super helpful team who went above and beyond, thank you Brian, Ricky, Rina, Grant and all. Delicious food (different themes different nights - sat night degustation was sensational and such excellent value), really comfy beds and lovely rooms. Fantastic location across the road from the Akakura Kanko gondola / buses that take you to other Myoko resorts/snow monkeys etc. You can ski back home to just across the road! Hotel shuttle service to/from train and other village restaurants. We absolutely loved our stay and hope to be back!!
