Sugatani Onsen

The room hotel is clean and tidy and has good value for money, but the hotel is located in a remote location. The kaiseki cuisine for breakfast and dinner is very good, including Omi beef, which is very enjoyable. It is a good hotel choice.

There are many dogs loose in the lobby and entrance, so if you hate dogs or have dog allergies, you should definitely avoid this place. Well, the staff here don't seem to care much about this either. It's a shame.

Stayed one night on the way back from the Sanin region to Tokyo. It wasn't that this was our destination, it was because everything was just right and met the conditions, such as the distance during the trip, the location such as the distance from the interchange, and the budget. I didn't have any particular feelings about it, so I stayed without collecting information in advance, but in conclusion, it was an unexpectedly good inn. There seems to be a lot of bad reviews here. However, looking at the time of stay, it seems that there are many old ones. Also, I felt that reviews from people who stayed with pets tended to be more severe than people who stayed alone. The building is still fairly new and looks nicer inside than outside. It looks like it was renovated about 10 years ago. The rooms are relatively large with high ceilings, not luxurious by any means, but in excellent condition. Customer service was neither possible nor impossible. Insects seemed to come in even through the screen door, so it was written in the guest room that the window should not be opened. There is no particular scenery outside, and you can only see the surrounding mountains. The hot spring is a cold mineral spring that is heated and fed. There are clear hot water and dark brown cloudy hot water, but it seems that the color changes depending on the water level at which the source is the same. When I visited, the indoor bath was transparent, and the open-air bath with a roof was dark brown, but there was almost no smell in either. You can tell it's a mineral spring by the way it warms up. Dinner and breakfast are served at the restaurant. It's not a particularly special dish, but it's not badly seasoned and tastes good. However, the restaurant was clearly understaffed, and orders for drinks tended to arrive late. Other than eating and taking a bath, there are no particular incidental facilities. It was an inn that I can recommend to people who don't mind relaxing in the hot water and doing nothing.
