Hemingways Nairobi

As a female solo traveler, I appreciated the attentive staff ensuring everything was to my satisfaction. Am I enjoying myself? Is there anything I need? The property is lovely with many complementary amenities, including a gym, a steam room and a sauna. For a fee , there is also a spa. And the pool was gloriously cool and refreshing after a hot day. My room was glorious! Fresh flowers—roses—were a sweet touch. The bathroom was enormous, and I felt so pampered just having the large shower and tub at my disposal. I also spent hours on my balcony working on my next projects, but the lovely views over the property were nearly too distracting. The restaurant’s menu offered a wide variety of items that did not disappoint. The upstairs bar offered sweeping vistas of the mountains and a beautiful sunset. I stayed here 3 full days and 2 nights, and was allowed to use my room as a day room until 6PM for a modest fee. I had a butler but wasn’t sure what to request! After spending 2 weeks volunteering in remote and impoverished areas, I welcomed the opportunity to relax at Hemingways before flying back home. And the respite allowed me time to think critically about how best to continue helping those in need. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Hemingways was a dream! It is our second stay here.  Hemingways Nairobi has a 24 hour butler service, big rooms with a beautiful bath and roomy shower, a huge garden, an icey pool, 2 bars and one restaurant for meals. It is green, filled with birds, and no one overlooks the rooms. There is a descent wine menu, large food selection with themed meals on certain days and a Sunday buffet. The service is warm, efficient and the wonderful staff will really try meet all one's needs. We were really helped with road transfers to Ol Seki Hemingways which added to our experience. We will return!

Sunday bottomless prosecco lunch is a must.. We had Newton at the table..serving us on the spot.. wonderful....we can highly recommend this place even if if the price is about average In Nairobi...................................................................

Cassey, our server was very kind and friendly. He's also very good at upwelling the hotel services The location is ideal for a nice meal. In general its a pricey establishment, catering to upmarket clientelle. Food is good, not great especially considering the price.

My experience was excellent! The staff is amazing! We had a special dinner with server Teresia. She explained my appetizer would take 20 minutes. I liked having the choice to say yes or no. I am very happy I said yes to the baked Brie with cranberries. The lamb entree & pork entree were excellent. Everyone we encountered was very hospitable!

We stayed at Hemingways 4 nights in December at the beginning of our 3 week vacation and we are so glad we did. From the moment we arrived until the day we left the staff were all so hospitable & kind. They remembered our names after the first day and went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy. John, the concierge, helped arrange a wonderful Nairobi National Park tour with a take away breakfast that was very good. He also arranged to hold our luggage while we went on safari in Tanzania and had it transferred to our airport hotel when we returned. We had such peace of mind knowing that our luggage would be taken care of. Restaurant recommendations were great. All the wait staff and housekeeping were attentive and very good. The hotel grounds are beautiful, very quiet & security is tight. It was nice to see the Christmas décor which was beautiful & the gingerbread houses with the electric train were quaint. The hotel location was perfect for what we wanted to do – Nairobi National Park, Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Giraffe Center are all nearby. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. Plenty of bottled water & a mini bar. The food at their restaurant was really good and offered options for everyone in our group of 4 – mushroom soup, chicken tikka korma, miso basted chicken, deep fried Ngege, & steak we all enjoyed very much. Their “Perfect Gin & Tonic” should not be missed! My spa treatment was the only thing that left me wanting a little more…the wrap I had offered a very thin layer of product & I was left wrapped up for 45 minutes which was way too long. I was so happy to shower and start the 2nd half of the treatment with a massage which was very nice. We all hope to be able to come back to Nairobi and stay at Hemingways – highly recommend!
