Nyati Hill Cottages

My daughter and I stayed here for three nights and it was wonderful. The cottages are located in the national park and away from the noise of the city. They are beautiful and peaceful and very clean and comfortable. The showers were hot, the plumbing worked, the beds were comfortable and the small kitchen in our cottage was perfect. They provided the wings we needed to make breakfast for our early morning tour departures and were there to greet us every time we came in and left. The man managing the property was helpful, kind and knowledgeable and helped us with plans each day. They have a chef that will come to make lunches and dinners which are served to you in a private terrace or outside- the food was the best we’ve had in Kenya and worth it to know you will have dinner waiting for you when you return from your adventures. There was a pool and many seating spaces to enjoy the views. I can’t say enough good things about this place- it was the best and we hope to return one day.

Actually, I just verify the very good Review description written in Jun 29, 2023 from Canada is very accurate (2024) and i can't better it except to say that (but read that one first and Tomas the cat is still there and still super cute, and i heard a lion one night!): 1/This is not every ones cup of tea. Its tranquil, safe, rustic and charming, not a party place and lots of people, bar etc.I stayed 7 nights as working in south of the town and i must say I grew in love with the place. I was the only person there except staff all week. It feels a little pricey but i convinced myself that it was worth it by the end. 2/Uber and Bolt (as of 2024 June) both go in to Westlands, Nairobi centre from here (6-12 USD). I am not sure but i dont think the day trips will pick up from here and that needs verifying, but an uber to nearest point would work well. 3/ Don't be put off by the rough safari track in. Its part of the rustic charm. I will stay here again if the price is not over £100/night.

We stayed at Nyati Hill Cottages for 4 nights in June 2023. We arrived late in the evening and were given the Cheetah/Impala cottages, which have a lovely sitting area between them. One cottage is the living area, with large bed with mosquito netting, separate bathroom and shower/sink areas. The other cottage is the large kitchen/dining areas, fully equipped with everything you could need. Breakfast foods were also supplied, eggs, bread, fruit, juice, yogurt, cheese, butter and coffee/tea. It was more than enough and when requested, they supplied whatever we needed. It so happened that we were the only guests during our stay, which made it extra relaxing. The grounds are beautiful and well kept with lush greenery and flowers. There is a wonderful view of the national park, where we often saw zebra, buffalo, ostrich, impala and even a lion. There is also a look out platform at the back of the resort where you can climb up a ladder for a birds eye view of the park and grounds. Everyone was friendly and attentive. We ordered lunches and dinners, which were made by the house chef and served in our kitchen. Food was delicious and inexpensive. The best part of our stay was the resident kitty whom we met on day one. A young male, he is friendly and very affectionate. He quickly followed us, kept us company and slept soundly on our laps. He waited for us in the mornings, sleeping on the chairs in the patio area. Not everyone loves cats, but if you do, this is a huge bonus. We asked the staff and they said he did not have a name, so we named him Swahili. The chef said she sometimes calls him Thomas. We were missing our pets back home and having Swahili around made our stay exceptional. I urge the staff to keep allowing him to live on the grounds, he is an asset and an ambassador for your cottages. Any animal lover will quickly fall in love with him. For us that were going on safari in both Kenya and Tanzania, Nyati Hills was the perfect transition. The short stay allowed us to acclimatize to the time zone and weather, fully relaxing. For those who do not wish or cannot go on safari deep in the bush, staying at Nyati Hills is a great option. It is close to Nairobi with easy access to a national park where game drives are available, while still providing the space and creature comforts you want.

Fantastic 4 day stay which the whole family all loved. We were the only people staying and had the family cottages and separate kitchen cottage, which were huge, clean and had plenty of space and facilities. The included breakfast provided was lovely and more than adequate. The setting is amazing, with great views over the National Park with absolute peace and quiet only disturbed by the noise of animals at night. Chalo was very helpful organising everything we wanted to do and the cottages are very close to Sheldricks Elephant orphanage and the Giraffe Centre. We also used Bernard as our taxi driver and he was reliable and good company. We all loved our stay and would definitely return ... its a perfect place to relax and see Nairobi. Thanks 👍
