We stayed here during a two-day ski trip. I found this inn very appealing, especially since I had never seen it on social media. There are only a few rooms, so it was quiet and very comfortable. We were worried about which one to choose, but we stayed at "Kiri," which has an open-air bath in the room, and it was better than we expected, so we took a bath five times (lol). We'll definitely come back here again! We've been saying that ever since we got back. However, we didn't get a plan that included dinner, so we were hoping to eat at a nearby restaurant, but all the restaurants closed early, so we were left without food, which was a bit of a downside^^; Next time we stay, we'll make sure to make a reservation for meals!! The inn itself was really nice and the best. Thank you for your hospitality.

The facilities and service are the best. All the staff who serve you are friendly. It is not in a tourist complex with many tourists, but is in a quiet mountain, so you can enjoy plenty of leisure time. You can't even see foreigners. Get off at the bus terminal and walk for 15 minutes. There is a steep uphill road of about 60 meters on the way out. The waiter helped with the luggage and was polite. The meals on both days were not the same. The quality and taste were both good👍

Without question the highlight of our 2 week trip to Japan. We were lucky to catch the first snow of the season in mid December and the views were unbelievable. Service, cleanliness, and qualify of the meals were all top notch. All things considered, my partner ranked dinner here above a 2 Michelin star course we did in Tokyo. Shima onsen Yoshimoto is such a unique experience that it's in a league of its own from our other activities in Japan. We will definitely cherish this memory. An icing on the cake, they also granted my special request for a birthday cake wonderfully. In terms of transportation, we took the limited-express train from Tokyo, which was straightforward and can be reserved ahead of time online. Would absolutely recommend!

I stayed at Tokiwasure-no-Yado Yoshimoto for two nights in December 2023. Everything was impeccable - the service, the room, the onsen and the staff were all lovely. Much thought and care has gone into the elaborate, exquisitely plated kaiseki breakfasts and dinners and each room has all the comforts and amenities a luxury onsen getaway could ask for. Even better, this ryokan did not discriminate against me as a solo traveller and allowed me to stay in the main building in a spacious and luxurious room with its own private onsen. There is a separate area in each room with a private bath for changing, cosmetics and drying one’s hair which I found highly convenient and made good use of during my stay. The private onsen attached to my room was comfortable, overlooking the lush green forest and hillside where the ryokan is situated. I will definitely be stopping by Shima Onsen again and Tokiwasure no Yado Yoshimoto will be my accommodation of choice.

8室だけの小さな宿なのでとても落ち着いて居心地の良い、食事の美味しい、清潔な宿です。スタッフの接遇も行き届いています。以前、途中たまたま立ち寄った中之条ガーデンのバラ園が素晴らしく、それからは夫婦で春秋のバラの時季に合わせて年2回宿泊しています。料理は和食中心で、贅沢な素材はないけれど、一品一品丁寧に工夫された調理と味付けで感動します。 It is a small inn with only 8 rooms, so it is very calm and cozy, with good food and cleanliness. The staff is also very attentive. We happened to stop by the Nakanojo Garden rose garden on the way to the inn and were so impressed with the garden that we have been going there twice a year in the spring and fall, just in time to see the roses and stay at the inn. The food is mainly Japanese, and although there are no extravagant ingredients, each dish is carefully prepared and seasoned erabolately to impress.
