Namutoni has an abandoned feel since all the shops within the fort are closed. Although there's a restaurant and a small shop near the reception, the atmosphere is unsettling. Many visitors didn't respect the silence near the waterhole, which is very close to the campsites, resulting in the sounds of children playing, shouting, and crying. Furthermore, the lights directed at the waterhole were flickering on and off, likely scaring the animals away. As expected, we didn’t see much wildlife, except for some antelopes that were already present during the day. In hindsight, I would have driven an extra hour to reach the town outside Etosha to save money on the entrance fee and camping site.

This was our second stop in Etosha National Park, and the sixth wildlife reserve stay on our trip. The watering hole at Namutoni was superb, and we spotted so many animals! If you have to pick one spot in Etosha, this would be the right choice. The staff is wonderful, and you see a lot of animals. The breakfast at the park restaurant was quite nice too.

We stayed in the camp ground and were happy to find some grass to put our tent on. The bathroom was okay, needs some upgrading. The pool was nice and cool but had a lot of seeds and branches in that were not being cleared by staff and the staff in the restaurant bar area really didn't make us feel welcome at all when stopped in for a wine. The wild life in the park however was something wonderful.

We spent 2 nights in a double room, that was big and very nice. There was a small fridge inside. Toilet was big and very nice as well and there even was an outside shower, as in private lodge! Restaurant was good, but the choice for breakfast was quite poor. It is the less busy of the 3 main camps and I enjoyed it very much. We saw a cheetah killing a springbok just 2 km from the camp.

Namutoni is on the east side of Etosha park, and it couldn't be more different from Okaukuejo in the west. It has huge open grounds, extensive lawns, an old white fort (now abandoned), swimming pools and, of course, a waterhole (a natural one, this time) for animal viewing. There is lots of birdlife around, often noisy. The wildlife in the surrounding area, for game drives, is better too. The rooms are large and comfortable, with good air conditioning snd mosquito net, and a sunken bath/shower. A few things are a bit janky, like the front door sticks and the toilet is a bit unpredictable, but generally it is a nice to place to stay. The food was pretty good too, even the vegetarian option, and breakfast was the usual buffet with an omelette station. There is a large dining oom and plenty of outdoor seating. Service is better than at Okaukuejo, although not as good as at many other lodges we have stayed at. Internet is available at the restaurant/reception area.

After staying at Halali the night before we had very low expectations for Namutoni. But were completely surprised by the accommodation, our room was very large and bathroom enormous. The Staff in restaurant were so friendly, and food was delicious - with a choice on all courses. Lots of game in the area - would recommend staying here

Namutoni camp nice, usual problems with NWR site ablutions, need better maintenance. The camping pitches were much better organised and nicer than Halali and Okakuejo, with some trees for shade and really nice braii. We had an amazing time in Etosha although most of the roads, but particularly the road from Okakuejo to Halali was terrible!!

The Namutoni campsite is promoted as being only 25 sites with a maximum of 8 guests. We were surrounded by overland truck groupsm many of which had more than 8 people at them. It is not somewhere I would recommend if you are a couple of small group. The amenities are well-stocked and clean. The restaurant staff and food excellent.

This lodge is decent but it has clearly seen better days. If I understand correctly, the government has stopped funding their lodges (this is one of them) and are letting the private sector provide options. Too bad because this one has a lot to offer - it has its own watering hole that is lit up at night plus a great viewing area and an old fort. The rooms are fine, just quite dark. But our bathroom was pretty nice and very large. The staff were good and the food was good. We had dinner and breakfast there. Overall, fine but needs a renovation.
