The most amazing stay from now in Tulou area! The owner had patience to explain us the story of this Tulou and shared his experience as native of the village. The building is a testimonial of the past including all modern comfort needed nowadays in a high standard room. The Chinese breakfast was also delicious and generous, prepared by the owner himself so that we got the chance to meet him and speak with him.

I wouldn’t miss the opportunity to stay in a tulou after spending days checking them out, and I was lucky enough to find just one of my most favourite accommodation experiences ever - 云水谣长荣楼, the Tower of Sustained Glory, at the Ballad of Clouds and Water.
Traditional tulous were poorly equiped for comfort, with claustrophobically small rooms and communal bathrooms. People didn’t choose to live this way - they had to.
Luckily for us, for the grand total of $119 AUD per night, which is so modest of an amount in Australia, where I’m from, we got to stay in a 99 years old tulou renovated with modern creature comforts… and then some. Think a beautiful room dedicated to tea-making. Voice-controlled lights & music, and remote controlled curtains. A smart toilet, and one of the biggest showers I’ve ever seen, with a heater blowing warm air into the shower stall for the cold winters (although the hot water reserve is limited). Did I mention a 2m wide bed in which we slept like babies?
Not to mention the building itself is of course a piece of heritage art.
The few days I have spent with the tulous had thoroughly been one of my most favourite travel experiences ever.

This time I took my mother on a short trip to Yunshuiyao for a leisurely stroll. The scenery was beautiful and the accommodation was a surprise. We were lucky to live in a homestay transformed from a square earth building. It was a different experience. The design of the homestay is very good and very artistic. The rooms are simple but equipped with smart appliances. While experiencing the earth building, you can enjoy a convenient life. The boss and the staff of the homestay are very enthusiastic. The tea they brewed is delicious. When we left, they gave us a tea. They were so enthusiastic! He also took us to visit Huaiyuan Tower and the waterwheel, explaining things along the way. He was very considerate. He also helped to book a car to take us to the station. The driver was a good driver and drove fast and steadily on the mountain road. In short, we experienced a leisurely and convenient day with our family, young and old. I hope I can experience it again if I have the chance!

After walking around the village, I found that this is indeed the best accommodation. The breakfast is rich, the owner is friendly, and it is very close to Huaiyuan Tower. In addition, the rooms are well decorated and the public areas are very clean. The only downside is that the room heating and air conditioning cannot be turned on. I upgraded the room, which was very large and clean. There were restaurants just a few dozen meters away. The boss also gave me Fengyoujing to kill mosquitoes. The experience was great. A few minutes walk to the left is the Dayu Haitang Tulou. I will come again next time. The boss, please don’t raise the price. 😃
