Kalypso Hotel

We loved Kalypso Hotel! Our room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the cove for the most amazing sunrises. It was equipped with a small kitchenette which was nice to keep snacks in. It comes with a hot plate, electric kettle (instant espresso fulfilled our early morning coffee needs), small refrigerator and freezer. The staff was on point! So lovely and accommodating! We enjoyed the palapas and comfy chairs for sunbathing. The hotel has an amazing breakfast buffet that goes until 11am. We also enjoyed lunch by the water and the food was very good. The hotel is far enough from the main town center to feel very private, but an easy walk into town. We highly recommend Kalypso Hotel!!

We stayed at Kalypso hotel in August with our three children ( 15,14,10 ) pls two other families - all in different room categories. Before booking I was given the pricing on all room categories by George, the owner. I opted to pay more for two Delux rooms which from their website description, were for 3people , ample space and newly refurbished. However upon arrival we discovered the room for three children was the same size as the two person room and the third bed ( advertised as for an adult or child ) wasn't big enough for my teenagers. The staff made a makeshift double bed for us, but this took up 50% of the room. What the hotel didn't bank on was that we had access to all room types through our friends so I got to see the suites and standard rooms. The latter, apart from being on the first floor were identical to our ' delux ' rooms, indeed had better layouts, taller ceilings, nice balconies and the same decor and bathrooms. Neither of our bathrooms had windows and were effectively wet rooms... which never dried out. My issue was not how much we paid, but what we paid relative to other rooms and the mis-marketing of these delux rooms . When we discussed this with the owner, he suggested we move out, mid week if we weren't happy. Rooms aside, we loved the ambience of the hotel - the staff were excellent and location was perfect .

This is a lovely hotel in a charming spot right on the small beach, we stayed in a villa which was very nice, right next to the main hotel. The Villa had really good living areas, a hot tub, and plenty of space for our family of 4. The Hotel is 10/15 min walk to the main areas of Naoussa which is beautiful albeit very very busy in August, you will generally need a booking if you want one of the restaurants around the main port. This hotel is so close to being even better with a bit more care it really could be, for a room rate at the villa of around 700 Euros a night, there's no need to charge 2 Euro's for beach towels, breakfast should also be included at that price. The reception staff are ok, not what you would call particularly helpful, quite a young staff all in all throughout the hotel.

The views from this hotel are amazing and the beds very comfortable. The staff were very professional and were able to give advice about the island. The rooms were cleaned every day and the towels were really soft. The hotel has recently been renovated which is why we chose this hotel and the standard is high. Breakfast was included and was very nice.

Attention! We warn you against working at this place! In our opinion, it does not resemble a job but rather modern illegal slavery. We found a job advertisement on a Greek website; the hotel owner, George, was looking for staff for all positions, from cleaners to waiters and receptionists. We decided to try working as hotel cleaning staff in beautiful Greece to get to know a different country and work during the holidays in a warm and nice place. During the interview, he assured us that the work was legal, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The first few hours after arrival were pleasant; we were informed to bring our documents the next day to sign a contract, but as it turned out, that was not the case. The second day started with immediate work without anyone informing us, and we weren't even dressed appropriately! None of the existing employees explained what we were supposed to do or showed us the layout of the hotel. We had no idea where anything was. The employees assigned to show us the work were from Nepal, didn't speak good English, had no work contracts, were in Greece illegally, and worked seven days a week without a day off. Days passed, and the topic of a work contract or our insurance was never mentioned. It seems the owner prefers to change the entire staff every few months to avoid employment taxes. We saw one of the chefs working at the hotel disappear overnight, probably escaping after we started asking about a contract. This work and working seven days a week is illegal! Our job was supposed to be from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM but never was! The owner didn't mention that work ended when we finished cleaning all 20 assigned rooms, which could well be late at night. This isn't normal hotel cleaning; it's exploitation for a pittance considering our work often lasted up to 10 hours each day. After work, we were too exhausted to go anywhere, making the stay in a beautiful country like Greece not worth the extensive exploitation, especially for such little money. The worst part was when, on the third day, we met the worst woman we have ever encountered in our lives – the boss’s wife!! She was the biggest problem, treating us like slaves without any respect, possibly because we came to work as cleaners, making her look down on us. She probably thought she could bully us and we wouldn't do anything about it – perhaps she thought we were poor, but we aren't, and we left after a few days of meeting her! We aren't from a third-world country unable to go back home. She and the receptionist seemed to get along well; both could behave inappropriately and raise their voices at workers.  Additionally, Ms. Receptionist Marianna, how can you say that a guest who paid a lot of money for their stay is strange and should be treated differently (greetings to the lady from room number 28, you are not strange at all, quite the opposite!
