This was a good size unit for use during our stay. It had very usable kitchen and nice patio to relax on. Our only complaint was that the bed was very hard. We suggest the management change to pillow top mattress or something of that sort.

Would rate this resort as 3 stars due to the age of resort and limited amenities on site. Very good location.

The Kahana Villa Resort is an older resort with somewhat decent ammenities (pool and hot tub are fine, tennis courts still in good working order. No gym is a negative), but the check in process was a negative. The process was to call another resort, have them give you a code to unlock a safe to get a packet that included your room number and card key. No personnel on site to answer any questions or welcome you. They have recently renovated the rooms, which were overall nice enough, but still somewhat simple. If you wanted to speak with a concierge, you needed to go to a sister resort across the street to talk to them and book any excursions. Parking was plentiful overall, but many of the spots are reserved for specific guests, so it can be confusing to visitors what is available vs what is empty but reserved. The walking paths around the resort were not planned well at all. The fastest way around the resort is walking along the resort driveways. My sense is that if you get a great deal on this resort & that is important to you, then it might be a decent option. If the listed price or RCI points are similar to it's peers, then I would likely choose another resort on my next visit.

The whole point of my trip was to rest and recover from major surgery, my DH surprised me with this trip. I have been traveling for 35 years, I’ve experienced a few bugs in hotels which I kill and move on. I understand tropical countries have bugs. I tolerate a few here or there. But my experience with this hotel was not good, the Kitchen was clearly infested with cockroaches. We did not notice as we arrived late and were tired. But when we started to unpack groceries we noticed a few cockroaches and killed them. The next day We found them in the dishwasher and they ran across the kitchen counters, and the floor in the living room. We were hopeful that the few caught would be the end of it, but by the end of the day I killed 30 cockroaches. I didn’t want to upset my husband he felt sad for booking this place. I realized this infestation was worse than ever, I took our bags out to car to prevent contamination. We went out and bought glue traps and I contacted front desk who installed bait stations. They also Promised to contact us if a new room was available and would have exterminator spray some time in next few days we did not hear back from them. I could not sleep or eat in this hotel room because I was so upset. I know that they shut down restaurants if bugs are crawling all over counters , I just didn’t think it was sanitary to cook there. I have food allergies so it is hard for me to find restaurants to eat at. I ended up getting sick . I know that this has been a terrible time for hotels in this area and many rooms may have sat empty for months, but I would think an inspection of each room before you open it up would have the guest best experience in mind. There were bugs in the dishwasher and on the counter that just could not be missed on a simple inspection. By mid week with the traps and bait stations the numbers crashed and by the end of week the bugs were down to none or one which I think came inside from a faulty screen door flashing. To add to this preventable situation, at home I have to decontaminate all my clothes, and bags which is just more work. Very sad this had to be our experience.

Stayed in Building F, Unit 106 between Nov 29 - Dec 5 2024. On entering the unit we immediately found roaches in the kitchen. We notified the front desk (Kahana Sands actually as onsite office was closed) to request spraying. They sprayed twice over the first three days and upon our request placed numerous roach traps on their second visit. At one point we saw 3 roaches together in the dishwasher. Front desk did their best to address the situation, even having us visit a different available unit to see if we wanted to move. Unfortunately we found a roach, and ants, in that unit as well. So we stayed in our original unit. Maintenance was also very quick to respond so I can't fault the staff. Living room furniture, especially the two end chairs, were very worn (pattern on the fabric completely worn off in places). Stayed in unit via RCI Exchange. I feel this exchange was not even close to the value of our home unit. It seems RCI's Maui locations (the two we've stayed at) are overvalued.

April at the front desk was amazing. very helpful and made our stay super nice. The people there have lost so much buy they give of themselves 100 percent. Maui is a beautiful place despite the loss of the beautiful Lahaina. It will always be a part of me as the people will be.April at the front desk is an example of the strength and beauty of the Hawiian people. I will be back.

Needs updating. Might have bug issues-need to treat. Saw a couple of bugs and had to go buy raid myself for fear of stuff traveling back with me.

Kahana Villa Resort is an acceptable accommodation. Our one bedroom was quite roomy. However, there was no view from the room. Our patio overlooked a fence with vegetation and the building next-door. In addition, there were maintenance issues with the room, and there were quite a few bugs in the room, including roaches. The resort did have a nice pool and hot tub area. I wasn’t aware of any other amenities. The resort is not oceanfront property. However, it is in close proximity to the ocean. As my wife and I do not spend much time in the room, it was an acceptable stay. However, we probably would not return to this resort.

All bedrooms and bathrooms are on the 2nd floor. Master bedroom is loft exposed to downstairs. It can be very noisy if people are watching TV or in the kitchen.
