Hosts were absolutely horrible. A misunderstanding about # of beds in the room: not that big of a deal for me but then Karl knocks on the door saying the phone is for me: David has followed her with a heavy torch in his hand (it was NOT dark). Person on the phone says she doesn’t need to speak to me, she needs the receptionist, so I hand the phone back. Karl says “I don’t need to speak to you” and hangs up. David uses that as his excuse to step into me and push open the door. Pretty sure that violates privacy laws as I absolutely did not give him permission. The he kicks my dad out for sitting in a chair.

Around walking tours we had two stays at the Cambria. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and very well appointed. Breakfast were delectable. The Cambria is just a few blocks from downtown Nelson where there are plenty of restaurants and bars. Above all, our hostess was very helpful and caring and so a wonderful host. We cannot recommend it highly enough!!

Lovely BnB with an attentive host. Very comfortable, with a very good breakfast. Lots of little treats (Sherry, Chocolates). Quickly resolved a minor mistake made by our travel advisors. Very good advice (suggested Mapua for return from Abel Tasman). Great en-suite room with lots of storage, good common areas, with interesting books - I enjoyed skimming through the Te Araroa book. Flexible re breakfast for our early departure to catch the Wellington ferry. Only a very short walk from Nelson centre.

We had a comfortable, 1-night stay here in Nelson. Karel made us a wonderful breakfast in the morning of delicious scrambled eggs with smoked salmon with plenty of toast, jams, cereals, fruit and yoghurt. Although we had our itinerary all sorted, Karel was very proactive helping other guests organise activities.

Such a enjoyable stay at Cambria house, Phillip and Rayma were perfect hosts, serving a delicious breakfast and such a special touch offering canapes and wine at 6pm on the veranda. We had interesting conversations and were given so many options to make the best of our time in Napier. The accomodation is wonderful, such a lovely room and comfortable bed. Highly recommended

The superking size bed was very comfortable and the pillows were firm but fluffy. The bathroom was immaculate and included a large stand alone shower and freestanding bath. Being winter the heated floor in the bathroom was especially welcome. Karel and Dave were welcoming hosts suggesting things to do in Nelson and places to see on my way to Greymouth.

Karel was an excellent host. My sailing trip fell through and she managed to organise for me a hiking trail by boat to the Abel Tasman National Reserve. A wonderful experience overall and Karel makes a delicious breakfast. She was also kind enough to recommend me the Omaka Air Museum en route to Kaikoura, with WW1 and WW2 planes from all sides. It made my day!

The Cambria House is an absolute treasure. A beautiful and very comfortable house, and Karol was a fantastic host - very attentive to all our needs; nothing was too much trouble. The location is very convenient for walking into the centre of Nelson in 10 minutes, and Nelson is a very convenient centre for visiting the Abel Tasman National Park.
