The rooms were excellent, clean, comfortable and relaxing. The staff were really friendly and went over and above. Overall a brilliant stay but the only thing that let it down was the lack of vegan options despite contacting them beforehand to make them aware, which was a bit disappointing The b&b advertises there are vegan options but If you are vegan, make sure to bring your own food. For breakfast it was mushrooms, hash brown, beans and tomato one morning then the next they didn't have mushrooms so it was just hash brown, beans and tomato. We had dinner there and the only vegan option was chips

Bedroom really good size, bathroom huge. Bed very comfortable. If you are coeliac or have dietary problems best avoid the restaurant. They have no idea. Couldn't get any information as to what the dishes contained.

This is the third time we have stayed at the ancient mariner and the rooms are spotless ,clean and big and very doggie friendly. However the evening meals are absolute rubbish ,even my dog would not eat the burger , everything we tried was awful ,we never be setting foot in the place again ,sham because it is a lovely village but this pub in regards to evening meals has a captured audience .

We were booked in a room for 1 night, room had ant’s in, we decided to have a meal , my wife had a burger, it looked as though it was only part of one, the onion ring was on top of bun, when lifted it was swimming in oil, my burger was the Fish burger, full of oil & onion ring same, we complained, got a refund, but the owner said nothing wrong with food?! We won’t be eating here again.

We would recommend this pub for eating ( apparently under new management) or staying . The room was spacious and clean if a little cold. Fun new year's eve with buffet and Kareoke. Good breakfast, if again the breakfast room was a little cold.

Booked 2 rooms via *********** over a month before travel, rec'd confirmation from the owner. As a gesture of goodwill I called them one day before travel to let them know group down form 3 to 2 since one in hospital thus only needed one room, so although I knew I had to pay for it I was generously giving them the opportunity to re book it. Wish I had not bothered - they cancelled the entire booking and re booked someone else probably to make more money. I even checked with them the evening before that they still had the one room for me which they confirmed over the phone. Arrived after walking 15 miles to be told no room and not their fault - left stranded without any transport or alternative accommodation. This is a unprofessional establishment with a rude owner - suggest you find somewhere better.

In entering this lovely pub we collected our key on 1st impressions the room was big and had everything we needed. We had an evening meal that was lovely and enjoyed by us all. Back to the room for some well deserved sleep. The beds were uncomfortable like lying on a paving slabs and the pillows need to be better quality. Up after a walk ready for breakfast at 8.30 here's where things went badly. Doors weren't opened until 8.40 shown to table and left could see cereals but no milk or juice on table near it no tea or coffee milk and juice out on top table at 8.50 then coffee not water was in a coffee hug and not one person used this as it looked disgusting. The last came and took our order for breakfast which we were then waiting a considerable time for. The breakfast was nice but the mushrooms were horrible. No toast offered or put out but there were marmite excetra on the top table. All in all breakfast was disappointing. Not the nice stay we were expecting.

First impressions everything seemed okay but alas it wasn't to be. The room has not been cleaned properly for a while unfortunately, dust in several places, behind the toilet was disgusting, there is mould around the shower, a quick wipe on the bathroom floor with a damp towel shows it isn't clean and the bathroom fan is full of dust. The tea/coffee holder hasn't been wiped clean and the kettle needs descaling. The bed is definitely not luxury - the mattress is too small for it for a start and the pillows are in desperate need of replacing. Breakfast is served in the games room and is a good full English with a choice of cereals, fruit juice and toast. The shower is dreadful, the water runs cold to really hot and back to freezing again in seconds so very difficult to clean yourself safely and properly. It's a shame as, with a decent clean, they would be acceptable so maybe the housekeeping staff need training/retraining.

Me and a couple of friends came to stay a night in July when attending a wedding nearby. Upon entrance we were greeted by the nicest young man who helped us with everything we needed. The rooms were clean, high ceilings, nice and tidy. The rooms had their own entrance and overall it was such a nice and cozy setting. Breakfast was fresh, tasty and you can tell the owners/managers cares about the place. It was so well looked after. I would highly recommend staying here.
