Very good rooms. Very good infrastructure. Very poor management. Courtesy and politeness are things not known to staff at front office and resturant. Typical governmental attitude and mediicrity. Horrible dinner at level G which was charged Rs 1500 for dry roti and some cheap veg dishes. Worst dinner I ever had in my travel across 24 countries. On the second night I ordered room service which was a bit better.

Absolutely grotesque of a hotel. Service was horrible, took them 20minutes before our luggage was taken up to our room (understaffed). Bare minimal English spoken by bell boy. Hotel room was very deceiving, did not match the photos online. Linens were stained, bathroom was dirty and just horrendous cleanliness. Don't get us started on the smell. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL EVEN IF ITS FOR A FEW HOURS The intention was to freshen up and leave in a few hours (what a mistake it was!)

This is an ITDC hotel, the same as The Ashok, situated in the heart of Delhi at Chanakyapuri. The most impressive is perhaps the Lobby of this property. It is spacious and not crowded with sofas. The room I was allotted was in itself quite good and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the area quiet. It had enough lights and enough charging points distributed around the room. The Wifi was good. There is a minifridge in the room. The toiletries provided are rather basic. Though the toilet is reasonably well -equipped the tap handles and other fittings are not properly cleaned and maintained. This is somewhat unfortunate. However, what was the real shocker is that the hotel has no restaurant and provides just room service for lunch and dinner. Strangely, a reasonable breakfast is served in a restaurant which, I suppose, does not function at other times. Much work is needed to raise this place to a level worthy of its location.

I was in Delhi and stayed here for one night. I have known and visited ITDC hotels between 1981 and 1987. It is unbelievable to see what has become of this TOURISM DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. It is no longer worth its name and past history. I was accommodated in a double room which had filthy cupboard, peeling paintwork in the corridors, the pillow was dirty and so was the bedcover. There was no stirrer in the tea tray, the towel in the bathroom was torn. I think The General Manager Mr. Rajiv Chopra need to look into the functioning of his Housekeeping department. I was short of time and since I had to leave quickly next morning, I walked into the restaurant where Breakfast was being served and requested the restaurant manager to pack a few sandwiches for me in a pastry box but he packed them off in aluminium foil and handed them over to me, he neither had a pastry box nor a paper bag to put it into. Finally he rummaged through a drawer and came up with someone’s used shopping bag and handed it over to me. The Senior Management and Front Office Managers have no clue about guest requirements and seems to feel cushy running a Public Sector establishment without understanding the modalities of running a Star hotel. I have never stayed in worst property for the price that I paid.

This is a government run hotel, it is very run down. Staff may seem polite, but look depressed. Maybe 30-40 years ago it was a nice place. It is desperate need of a renovation. Maybe suit budget backpackers, local Indians that are poor, definitely not for foreign visitors. Spend extra and find a better place. No shops are in walking distance, so need to get transport everywhere.

The hotel was not clean, the room smell was not good, the furniture was really old and not pleasant to the eye. The kettle looked unclean but they changed it when i asked for that. The breakfast was fine and they used to cater big bottles of soft drinks and fruits to the rooms free of charge. I checked two rooms, the first one looked like a prison as the window overlooked some construction bars, so you cannot really open the window when the room didnt smell good and looked too old. I changed the room to a better one as the furniture was a bit better and the window overlooked a garden with tall trees and a waterless fountain, and finally i was able to breathe. The tap and shower water was not warm all the time, so sometimes you find warm water and sometimes not!! The location is really good and very close to the local markets. You have to walk up for around 3 minutes to reach the lobby from the hotel gate so it is not recommended for guests with mobility problems. The housekeepers were polite and decent "I recall Samir and the rest of the team members". The reception staff were ok although one of them was very nervous with his colleagues!! Anupam Mishra "Assistant Manager- Food and Beverage" offered his help at our convenience. Another hotel senior manager which i cant recall his name gave us info on the local markets. There was a festival celebration at one of the hotel halls and one of the hotel staff invited us to join that celebration. The hotel still needs a lot of work and it was going under some construction work in Jan 2023, but i believe that the rooms need a complete makeover!!

It was nth visit to Samrat off course after quite some time. It is undergoing renovation so restricted entry rooms closed few operational. Reception as usual friendly and helpful to best of ability. Room is big but with old decorations. Shower cubicle renovated as bath tub removed. Beds are very old and noisy. Tried their food biryani which was a big portion and tasty as well. A/C was not working initially I wass hesitant to Complaint but informed when it was unbearable. Immediately two persons came and. Fixed that. A nice experience. Overall enjoyed the stay.

The hotel is in dire need of renovation. However age is not the problem. The room was dank, smelled of mold, with stained carpets and shades. Worse of all it was just plain dirty. Hair in the shower. Frayed towels. Dust and insects. We did not stay the night.
