Ariki Backpacker is in a great location, close to the museum, the coastal walkway, and a large market within walking distance.
The staff were very friendly, and it was nice to be able to do laundry at a low price and rent a bike at a very good price.
It was a guesthouse with great facilities overall, such as a small movie theater-like room, a restaurant, and a bathroom.
The cleanliness was also good.. I will definitely use it again next time.
I highly recommend this accommodation..

Overall it's OK, the most unbearable thing is that the bar downstairs is very noisy late at night, it's hard to fall asleep unless you are very tired

We had a spacious room with ensuite. Bed and pillows very comfortable. The staff member was very helpful. This was good affordable accommodation in the middle of town, available at peak time - many events happening in the city. Next time we would bring our own top sheet as it was so hot and the duvet supplied was too warm. We were pleased to get such a spacious room for the price, it's not an upmarket backpackers but good value for overnight.

While this was what you would expect as a backpackers it is next door to a bar. The noise over the weekend made it a terrible stay. 2:30am a full on fight broke out. Would not recommend this as a place to stay if you need any amount of sleep. Staff were friendly and amenities what you would expect but we were very disappointed by the level of noise for three of our four nights. Only quiet last night because it was Sunday and bar closed. We would not have booked here had we known.
