Property Description
C and J Cottage is located in the New River Gorge National Park, the newest national park. There is access to Sandstone Landing's patio alongside the New River, just a short walk down river from the home. The home is a fully furnished home with outdoor seating, a fire pit, and a beautiful river front view. It is a great starting point for exploring all the beautiful sites and attractions that southern West Virginia and the New River Gorge have to offer or a wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing stay on the river.
To get to the home, you will go across railroad tracks, we are near the railroad tracks. It is in a small, friendly neighborhood. You can walk to Sandstone General Store and Eatery to get any necessities you may have forgotten for your trip or get a meal.
If you plan to fish, there is also a bait and tackle store. Be sure to have a WV fishing license to be able to fish, though. The Sandstone public river access is right by the house. You may see people going to the river at the public river access as well as people putting their boats in the river.
An extra that we provide our guests is access to the Sandstone Landings patio on the river, this is a shared space with our Sandstone Landings guests. It is just a short walk down river from the home. The upper level of the patio is equipped with a dining table and chairs. Lower level of patio has outdoor furniture to enjoy the river view or to sit in while you fish in the New River.

Clean and Comfortable
We had a lovely stay. This house is kept immaculately clean and is nicely updated. It is a quiet, calm and peaceful place to return to after a day of hiking in the gorge. If we come back, we would definitely stay here again.

Cottage get away
Very happy with our stay! Home was clean and had great views of the river. Highly recommended, the occasional train added some character to the stay. Enjoy the fresh chocolate chip cookies

Relaxing
Cottage was very clean and welcoming. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck - the view of the river and surrounding mountains was very relaxing. Would definetely recommend!

Beautiful View
This vacation home was absolutely incredible, offering breathtaking views that made our stay even more special. The house was spotless and thoughtfully stocked with everything we could possibly need, making it feel like a true home away from home. Its fantastic location provided easy access to all areas of New River Gorge National Park, allowing us to fully explore the beauty of the surroundings. For those who are light sleepers like me, it’s worth noting that the nearby train tracks do have activity through the night. Nonetheless, our experience was amazing, and would love to stay here again in the future!

Beautiful View
The view is amazing! The house is very nice and clean. Rooms are nice size. Supplied everything you could possibly need! We will stay again in the future! The host is very fast in responding. Greeted us with a note and cookies. Thank you for the cookies!

A birthday get-a-way!
My husband and I rented the cottage for his birthday get-a -way. He loves to fish and that is the reason we chose this cottage on the New River. The cottage was immaculately clean and the owner was gracious and very responsive to any questions. Although the cottage is out in the country, it is still convenient to towns and shopping in the area. Although the road and railway in front of the cottage didn’t bother my husband, the noise did bother me. The country store just a block away is very cute and the people working there are very friendly. It is a cute place to browse.
Again, I would like to say that this is probably the cleanest and most well equipped cottage we have ever stayed in.

Great location
Lovely, comfortable cottage. Welcomed with homemade cookies, a gorgeous sunrise over the river the first morning, and two playful otters in the river our last morning.

Home Away From Home!
Loved staying in this house! From the jar of delicious cookies, to the case of water in the refrigerator and extra toiletries in the bathroom… everything was thought of to make you feel at home. Our toddler had a blast watching the boats from the back of the house the train from the front. The house was absolutely spotless and the beds were comfortable. If I could pick up the house and put it in a different location, I would. However, the general store was very convenient and everyone in the neighborhood was friendly. This rental is going to be hard to beat for our future vacations.
