Stone Cottage

Booked last minute to ensure I reached the airport without rushing the following morning. Arrived around 5.30pm, and there was no reception. There were two doors either side of the entrance which said “private” on. I heard voices behind the door so managed to get checked in after that. The room had two single beds, tea&coffee making facilities, and a shower/sink. The heating wasn’t working when I arrived so the owner kindly brought a portable heater up. Overall I had a comfortable nights sleep and it was only around a 10 min walk from airport doors. Would definitely recommend for a budget stay.

A little gem for an airport stay. Very welcoming on arrival and a lot more personable than a large airport hotel . Only 2 mins from airport, but no aircraft noise ! And very reasonable rates of pay. Lovely pub down the road for dinner . Highly recommend!

No one there on arrival, but did receive a text to say keys were in a safety box. Room was rather dated, and pretty average to be fair for the price of £80. The shower only seemed to have one temperature, “luke warm”. Towels as dry and stiff as cardboard. No shower gel, shampoo, conditioner or hairdryer or anything like that. Didn’t even ask when we checked out “how was your stay?” Two main issues here… 1- the mattress had no life in it, literally lay on it and you went to the slats supporting it. So uncomfortable, both me and my partner had a terrible nights sleep and both woke aching. 2- i accidentally spilled a bit of mango chutney sauce dip on the carpet, and cleaned it up as best I could. (Bearing in mind this is a guest house and the carpets are far from “spotless” anyway). The owner then told me the carpet needed “vaxed” and I would have to compensate them for this. He asked “what do you reckon” (meaning how much should I pay)… I replied..well what do you reckon? He replied…”well a tenner cash will do”. 🫢 So £10 cash to vax your already dirty carpet and remove one little stain. Maybe put the £10 towards getting the cracked windows in the entrance door replaced. I was going to use this place twice a month at weekends as I work in that area. If I do decide to use it again, at least I’ll know the carpets clean in room one now eh. I actually could have complained about the mattress on leaving but I thought “nah just leave it”…but to then be charged £10 to vax the carpet…wow….really think that’s a bit of a p*S$ take to be quite blunt.

Stayed here as a solo traveller after landing at the airport in the early hours. Communication was excellent from the owners who assured me how to access my twin room. The cottage is lovely, has lots of character and you can tell it’s well loved. The room has everything you need and has a very personal feel about it. I often use the local chain hotels but I would highly recommend you use this, as I will be next time I use Newcastle Airport. Thank you for a very welcoming stay!

We stayed at Stone Cottage for 2 nights on our way upto Scotland and was made very welcome and very clean comfortable room and a great full English breakfast nothing to much trouble from the family 💞 would definitely stay again👍
