The hotel is not bad, it just charges way, way, WAY too much for what it offers. You should expect the standards of a hostel that costs about a sixth of that. It's always a ‘yes, but’. Like, ‘Yes, the food is included - but the crockery and tea towels are dirty and for vegetarians it's mainly rice and beans.’ Or ‘Yes, there really is a lot of service staff, but they behave as if they are forced to be there, as if they hate the customers and as if they are absolutely not equipped for the job.’ Or ‘Yes, everything is undecorated, but not in good condition and very dirty.’ The lack of professionalism and competence on the part of the staff cost me a lot of time and money. For example, although I asked them, they didn't manage to ask if the flight was leaving at the scheduled time, so I sat in the heat and dirt for 5 hours. For example, 4 adult men failed to take a credit card payment for 1.5 hours (even though this is explicitly offered), which is why I spent my last morning waiting instead of being able to use the beach again. And things like this happened every day. It's a real shame - because the surroundings are beautiful (hence the second star).

What is it like to stay at Laka Lodge? It's pure bliss! What a hidden gem Mohéli is, so unspoilt, green, gorgeous nature and wildlife. And what a beautiful place Laka Lodge is. We spent a week in a beach bungalow and we only wish we could've stayed longer. We've never experienced such great customer care before. That already started when we contacted Hans for more information. He helped us with the reservation of the domestic flights from and to Grande Comore, all the airport transfers and booking 5 tours out of Laka Lodge. Also great advice on the intercontinental flights. Also on site the service is excellent. Laid back island style, but surely excellent. The full board service was exquisite, Xavi an amazing chef. With one of us not eating seafood and being difficult with meat, we had a customised lunch and dinner daily. Fish & meat for hubby, vegetarian for me. All fresh ingredients from the garden and all delicious! Thanks Xavi! The tours we did were really enjoyable as well. We did the village tour, island tour, Itsamia turtle tour, snorkelling and Livingstone Bats. And we were taken to one of the grande marriage wedding activities in the village, that was special! Big shout outs to Houzan and Chris for showing & teaching us so much! We feel like we only discovered the tip of the iceberg, so hope to come back and see more! Also big thanks to Sebastián, mil gracias de verdad por tu buena atención y hospitalidad! Same to all the other team members, you really made our stay extra special. When can we come back? Hopefully soon!

Horrible, horrible experience. I came to Comoros to celebrate my birthday and the Airbnb host I had recommended I stay in this lodge as he knows the owner, Hans. One of the worst mistakes I could make to be honest. Comoros (and especially Moheli) is absolutely gorgeous but my experience was ruined by Hans acting extremely rude, disrespectful and fraudulent. As other reviewers had correctly noted, he tries to accuse the guests of not paying. Then he attempts to scam people by having them pay up front and after, tries to force guests to pay a second time as they are leaving. He really ruined my birthday and I absolutely despise his poor, low level behavior. After he said paying by wire would be fine, he said I must immediately pay with cash and the activities I had planned like nighttime scuba diving, were canceled. He tried to bully me (again as other reviewers noted, check the reviews) and say l won't be able to leave the country and all this other nonsense. Only when I told him I was an attorney who will report his behavior to the local government/ tourism, did he back off and try to be nice. When the driver dropped me off to take my boat back to Moroni, Hans was on the line with him saying I must pay AFTER I already gave the cash. Only after I started raising my voice and told him I wasn't paying two times, did he shut his mouth. Other than the absolutely atrocious management, the lodge is truly subpar. The rooms were not clean and the food was underwhelming but it was the only place you could eat for miles. There was an incident with one of the property dogs where I was walking by and the dog started barking/growling and lunged at me. I fell into the bushes trying to back away from the dog. The only redeeming quality was Churchill who was extremely professional and tried his best to make my stay and birthday enjoyable even after Hans' treacherous behavior. Avoid avoid AVOID.

Very clean bungalows with mosquito nets. Food was superb and tailored to vegetarians. The location is excellent with a private very safe clean beach. The staff members are extremely helpful, friendly and responsive to every single need no matter how small. And the owner Mr. Hans is an enormous help in providing all sorts of information on the island, how to reach it, what to do, etc. The lodge also organizes excellent excursions on land and sea. Overall, an exceptional stay during an amazing time in Moheli.

Had a terrific week in this great resort. Did 17 dives while here. The diving was outstanding so was the food. The rooms were quite nice, great wifi, excellent staff and service. Highly recommended it. The resort offers a number of interesting day trips as well, I took one to water falls, was great.

Wow, what an incredible place. Set around a stunning white sand beach, with a cosy covered dining terrace serving fresh local fish, veg and fruit and the most amazing trip opportunities. In one single day I snorkelled with a Hump Back Whale and it's baby, swam with a giant Manta Ray and watched turtles nesting and hatching. Before the trip, contact by email was superb with great communication and everything was able to be arranged for me. I'd you are visiting Comoros, plan to spend most of your time here.

I have spent two nights at Laka Lodge and it was wonderful! It's a trully oasis in Comoros. The bungalows are well equiped with fan, hot shower, mosquito nets, drinking water and ocean view. Just in front of the bungalows you find a private beach, parasol and confortable beach chairs. From Laka Lodge you also have access to the public beach, which is amazing for snorkling (I have swum with a turtle there). The staff is very friendly, and they love when we try to speak the local language. Food is delicious and they use local spycies which makes the food unique! Something very special about this place is that they are very environmental responsible, they have solar painels for electricity, most of the vegetables come from their own garden and they are very respectful with the local people and culture. Laka Lodge offers a variety of tour to do around Mohéli. I did only the snorkeling boat trip, which is a must! I took the Laka Lodge boat from and after to Grand Comore, and got a little wet, but in general it was a smooth trip. If you are going to Comoros, I strong recommended that you take some days to stay at Laka Lodge.

I spent 4 wonderful days in Laka Lodge in my recent trip to Comoros. I usually travel fast so I was quite unsure if 4 days on a small island is not too much. However when it was time to leave, I really wished I could stay longer! Laka Lodge provides a perfect combination of island tranquility and fun and interesting adventures. You can relax on the beach, snorkel, dive, see the turtles, whales, Livingston bats, feed the lemurs. I wanted to say a special thank you to a wonderful dive master Sebastian. He really took a great care of me and my sister (we both do not swim well). He ensured we had great (and safe) snorkeling experience to the point that we decided to do Discover Scuba diving experience with him. It was so thrilling and beautiful to dive for the first time in my life and it is entirely thanks to Sebastian that I felt safe to do this. If you're ever in Comoros, do not miss Laka Lodge, I am sure you'll have an amazing and unforgettable adventure!

Laka Lodge is a beautiful hide-away surrounded by coral reefs in delightfully good condition. It takes some effort to reach this hotel and if you are arriving by boat, please note that it's not the route for anyone with mobility challenges. The hotel area is beautiful. Private beach, nice garden, a number of activities available. The main building has WiFi. The local village is just outside the gates. Please note that there are no restaurants in the village, the one in the hotel is the only one. Luckily the food at the hotel is very good. Rooms are mostly in bungalows with two rooms a bungalow. They have a beautiful view from the terrace. The rooms are fine although basic. The hotel provides drinking water that you can take from the main building to the rooms. There's one towel per person, a piece of soap and mosquito net. You might want to bring your own shampoo and a travel towel as the towels are not changed and you might end up using the one at the beach, snorkeling and shower. Room for improvement? Our room was not cleaned once during our stay and the sand becomes an issue inevitably. Also the trash bin (located outside on the terrace) was only emptied on our last day. This place gives you an opportunity to wind down: read a book, enjoy sunsets, talk with people.
