On our circuit through Norway we had a stopover in this hotel, in order to have lunch. This hotel got established in the year 1857, Thon Hotel Sandven is a venerable historic hotel steeped in tradition. The hotel is situated in scenic surroundings, perched on the edge of the fjord in central Norheimsund, this is about an hour’s drive from Bergen. It is a very nice spot and we had a very good lunch, served by a very friendly staff, and also the restaurant was very trendy, overall a fine location, we would love to return.

Nice location with a view and proper rooms ! The dinner was excellent and the breakfast was fantastic ... one of the best we ever had ! Perhaps staff can be a bit more friendly but for the rest very helpfull ! Enjoyed this stay and would come back !

The hotel faces the fjord, so if you are lucky to have the room with the balcony, you can enjoy the view all the time. Otherwise, you can sit and chill in one of the living rooms or on a porch (weather permitting) and look at the fjord. There is an old part of the hotel (definitely with more character) and the new one - more plain. The rooms are large and clean - if you happen to get the room from the side of the street and you are a light sleeper, don't forget the ear plugs, as the traffic is quite intense. The buffet breakfast offers a great variety of savory and sweet food, so everyone will for sure find something to their liking.

Initially I was disappointed with this hotel as it didn't look like I expected it to! (Crafty photos on website). We also struggled to locate the car park entrance, and entered the hotel from the hotel and discovered a mix of old and new! Our room was located in a new block that has been added on or developed and our room was modern, clean and comfortable. We also had a view across the fjord which was pleasant. The dining room was beautiful and ornate and the buffet breakfast was an absolute feast. So I would stay here again and I would recommend.

Minus: In one room one of the table lamps didn't work. When showering the glass doors didn't really help keeping the water in the shower, instead the water spilled all over. Plus: We both got upgraded rooms. Nice fjord view in both of them. Large bathroom and bedroom. Great breakfast and staff. Even if the rooms were in the old part of the hotel the sound insulation is really good. We couldn't hear the neighbors. Also the location is really nice. Nice minibar in the room and free parking.

Stayed here for a night on our way to Flom. Lovely hotel, great staff and best breakfast we had on our 2 week Norwegian trip. We had a balcony room, comfy bed with views over the water. The armchairs on the balcony were super comfortable too. Would definitely stay here again.
