After driving 3 hours we decided to visit this cosy pub. The wait for food was over 50minutes. The food was terrible!!!! I could not believe how awful it was! Save your money and don’t bother. Plenty of other lovely pubs close by serving home cooked meals.

Dirty carpet full of bits of food. Table was on a complete slant and was sat in a very low chair so was practically neck height with the table, asked to move they said they had no other tables despite there being multiple empty tables seen the whole time we were there. Long black hair stuck to pint glass (neither of us have this hair) Asked for double meat this did not come, waitress said she would check but didnt come back. Went to take a bite of the meat on our roast and the meat was cold, then realised the rest of the meal was also cold (it had been at the table for maximum 2 minutes. The food was not even luke warm it was cold. Told staff, no apology given they just asked if we wanted to change it but after already having waited 30 minutes for a cold plate we wanted to leave. No apology given, still charged for drinks despite everything. do not reccomend.

5 of us went for lunch. The others enjoyed their meal (hence 2 stars) however my meal was awful. I had pie of the day Steak, Mushroom and Ale with chips and peas. I can honestly say probably the worst pie I have ever eaten. The beef was so scarce and every single little piece of it covered in fat and/or gristle. I realised later that what I thought was extra lumps of fat in the gravy was actually raw pastry from the base of the pie. It was hard to tell what I was eating … but it definitely wasn’t meat. I left most of it. I’d already returned my chips to be re-cooked as they were very pale and some of the bigger ones underdone. I also got much fewer chips than everyone else. Poor portion control is a fatal mistake in my books. Very disappointing.

The property had a tacky feel to all surfaces…. The doors ( notably the entrance doors) and also the dining tables. The was an odd odour as you enter The stair carpet to the rooms was grubby & dirty. The room was small in need of TLC The shower was the smallest I’ve ever encountered. The floor boards creaked so much with other guests in the next room that it kept us awake. Didn’t enjoy the evening meal. The staff were friendly for breakfast & accommodating but the food served had a tainted taste. The sat nav took us on an unmade dreadful road with huge pot holes…. There was no warning on the web site this could happen.

The pub was beautiful and the staff always went beyond. The landlord was lovely and helped us when we were stuck. Breakfast was freshly cooked with plenty of choice. The rooms were nice and clean. We would stay again.

We had to wait an hour and a half for some crappy Sunday dinner which was stone cold and we didn't even get our starters served to us the staff were incredibly rude, the boy with the ginger hair looked like he'd had enough. Shame on you 😕

Waited 2 hours for awful food, overcharged and had to request a refund. The staff should not be working in customer facing roles! They are rude and unprofessional! I wish I would have read all of the recent reviews on here first before I went!
