Hotels near Lake Gregory, Nuwara Eliya District

The room is small, it is cold at night, the heater can not be turned on for a long time, it will automatically trip, but the service is good, old-style British service, breakfast is simple but very regular, afternoon tea is a try, after all, it is the most authentic British. The room is small, but the furniture is too large to affect walking. Billiard room, reading room, mix lounge bar, etc. are all worth trying. Fining restaurant dinner must be formal. Don't eat Chinese food around, just enjoy the sun in the garden

We stayed at Top Terrace Nuwara Eliya for 1 day with family, the location is quite good and quite. Hotel has great view, overall property is not too big but rooms are comfortable, room size is also bit small but that's manageable. Room had all the required amneties. Hotel is well maintained. They served us authentic food for dinner, had good taste, we really enjoyed, breakfast options could be better, but overall it was good and comfortable stay at hotel. We appreciate the help from their staff Prabhu and Vinit, they were very sweet and always there to help.

We went there on 8 July 2022. We were the only guest in the hotel apparently. The hotel was hard to find as no proper signs guide the directions. Eventually we got there. On arrival we were told that only cash payment could be accepted, this we found rather strange as there were 2 Credit card machine present. The staff hardly spoke English though as it was becoming dark we decided to have diner in the restaurant. Please see the photo on the poor diner at the CheRiz. As said the staff hardly spoke English and by insisting and insisting we got half of what we wanted. The WIFI was not working at all until we found out that it was only working in the lobby area. After diner we went to our room and all lights were turned off in the main lobby area, so it was scary to sit down in the lobby where the Internet worked more likely than in our room. In the morning we had breakfast with some French fried and eggs. Please see photo, rather poor I would say. We were told that the owner was from New Zealand and he just left for New Zealand. On the check out we insisted to pay by CC but that was not possible the said. On top of that we could not receive a proper invoice. Only after insisting and insisting and trying, the credit card payment succeeded. Unfortunately we forgot a power bank in the room Elgin, our driver called the hotel and it was found in the room. Good news. A few hours later we had made a plan, without waisting petrol, to receive our power bank back. Therefore the hotel was called again with our recovery plan. We were told there was no power bank found at all. We were told to check our bagage better as there was no power bank in the hotel. The manager told us that she had asked the staff again and no power bank was found. So apart from trying to get cash instead of a genuine traceable credit card we were treated badly on the discovery of our power bank. Therefore for us this is not a trustworthy hotel. Avoid in all instances !

The hotel is good, the facilities in the room are slightly worse, the bathroom is relatively small, the price is not very favorable, and there is a small swimming pool outside. However, the temperature is very low and the swimming pool is very slow. I am swimming in the water for a long time.

We have just spent 2 nights at Goatfell and felt it necessary to post a review. Sadly we were largely underwhelmed. The setting was impressive if not remote. The weather was poor and thus the hotel was very cold. There was a nice open fire in the drawing room in the evening which was welcoming but did not really heat the room satisfactorily. The worst criticism was however our room which only had a very small portable radiator. We asked for another one but because many of the staff had very limited English we never received one. We tried to keep the one radiator in constant use but it was on a timer and only ever on for a short period. The staff tried hard to please but we felt they were very poorly trained so the standard of service was substandard. We were on an all inclusive basis but frankly were very disappointed with the level of cuisine too. My take overall was that it was very poor value for money. We have toured around Sri Lanka for over a week and this was our fifth stop and by far the most disappointing and almost the most expensive. The cost of 2 days was £1496 and thus I felt we had very poor value for money. We are seasoned travellers and rarely complain but it would take a great deal of persuasion to book another Teardrop hotel!!

We (our family) visited tea and experience factory for the second time ( last year also we visited this place during same period) from 20th December to 22nd December on FB basis. Unfortunately all our 6 meals we had to taken as ”set menu” basis and not as ”Buffet” we expected. The reason given by the hotel staff was due to the ”short of number of guests” Accepting it as it is rather questionable. The access road was rather bumpy and damaged at several locations. I know repairing this is a costly encounter but worth of revisiting this as most of guest are visiting the hotel by cars not by pick ups or double cabs. Apart from above two negative feedbacks the rest is great. Staff were quiet polite and supportive. the trip we had to visit ”Kolapothana Ella” was a great one. The Naturalist Lakshan was very supportive and informative so as the driver Ksevan (Like his driving skills) . The places we visited fascinating, room was neat and clean with all the amenities. The ”High Tea” provided was always point to be noticed. I never hesitate to recommend this place ” Hotel Tea & Experience” to come and stay with your family or partner as this was such a wonderful place. Since we already having the experience of visiting three other Thema Collection Hotels ( Aliya, Kithala, Scottish Bungalow) up to know, We would place the ” Tea & Experience” on Top out of the four.
