Hotel Madeleine

Just home from a week skiing in Obergurgl. We stayed at The Madeleine after a recommendation from friends … it didn’t disappoint. The food was spectacular, the rooms were spacious and spotless . There is a low key homely feel and the staff were attentive - nothing was too much trouble . Can highly recommend.

Returned to Scotland after an excellent week at the Madeleine, adults & teenagers. Beautiful cosy interior and great well thought-out rooms. Well looked after by owners and staff. Exceptional food and choice. Minutes from the chairlift and ski hire.

Wow, what a wonderful, memorable, weeks ski holiday we had at Hotel Madeleine. Michael & his Team were attentive to our every need. The Hotel was warm and welcoming and immaculately, clean. The Food was exceptional - 4 course dinner and SO much variety. Our Waitress Magdalena, was professional & attentive, nothing was ever too much trouble, she was a credit to Michael & his Team. The Hotel Barman Alexander, was amazing, he mixed us some lovely cocktails and was always by our side when drinks were running low! I don't believe we've ever stayed in a more friendly hotel, all of the Guest spoke to one another, it was more like a large Family Home than a hotel, we met some fabulous people some of whom we skied with & made some great memories. The Hotel location is perfect for the lifts and slopes, the Boot Room was a good size for the number of Hotel Guests. The Town itself, was a little sleepy, however, there were so many good bars and restaurants on the slopes it didn't matter. Definitely, more of a resort for couples than large groups of Males/Females. We can thoroughly recommend Apres Aki at bar Nederhutte, with it's amazing "versatile" live band & incredible atmosphere, including dancing on the chairs, we went there 3 nights! If you're feeling a little tiered or worse for drink, they will skidoo you back down to Town, which was a marvellous experience! Needless to say we thoroughly recommend Hotel Madeleine & Obergurgl Ski Resort and we will definitely, be returning next season. C&P.

Without doubt the best ski hotel I have ever stayed in Micheal and Nadine run an amazing establishment, their attention to detail is astonishing. All their staff are so well trained and excellent at their job. The standard of the food, at every level, is amazing. I really hope to return before too long, Obergurgal has captured a piece of my heart

In my opinion this is a top class hotel. The food was absolutely excellent. From the sumptuous buffet breakfast, to the skiers snack and 5 course evening meal, it was all top quality produce, cooked beautifully. The staff are polite and attentive and spoke good English. The rooms were relatively spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The wellness suite was a luxurious extra. The boot room made getting ready for skiing a pleasure. I am so sad that now I am home I can not have smoked salmon and prosecco for breakfast every morning. Our kids were 8 and 10 and I would say, for some younger children sitting patiently through the 5 course evening meal would be a test of patience. Though the hotel is not aimed at families with young children, ours were made to feel welcome by the staff.

I stayed at the Hotel Madeleine with my two young daughters through Crystal Ski. I can’t fault the hotel at all. Perfect location - a few minutes walk to the two main lifts, ski school meeting points and ski depot. The bus stop for Soelden or Hochgurgl was also just moments away. The village Center was literally a stone’s throw away. We had a spacious room with a single sofa bed for my youngest and a king size with two single mattresses for me and my other daughter. Everything was spotless. Loads of storage. Brilliant shower. Overall very comfortable. Warm - so we slept with the window open - but that’s standard in alpine hotels. Various British TV channels which came in handy when I had to pack or wanted to use the sauna in peace. The food was wonderful. Excellent selection at breakfast and the dinners were varied and of top quality. They accommodated the girls with a decent children’s menu when they didn’t fancy what was on the main a la carte menu. The service was friendly and attentive. A special mention for Terezsa who served us all week - so kind and friendly. Michael (manager) was always around to make sure things ran smoothly and a minor issue we had with the shower head was fixed immediately. The spa area was great. The girls enjoyed the hot tub and the various saunas, infra red and steam rooms were clean and well maintained. An indoor pool would be the icing on the cake. A wonderful stay in a beautiful resort.
