I have traveled extensively, and this was simply one of the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had. Together with my wife and two young children, we were in a comfortable room; every day we enjoyed a breakfast that was out of this world -- think champagne, freshly baked pies, freshly bakes quiches, etc. German hotels always do well with breakfast, but this was a separate category of excellence. Dinner was also very, very good; so good that we ended up dining there every evening. In hindsight, I regret that initially I stuck to the basics (schnitzel and sausage); the slightly more expensive items on the menu are truly excellent (I can recommend the roulade). The owner (not sure, but it felt like a place that was run by the same family for a long time) was very friendly and helpful, especially when it came to our kids. We always got the same table in the restaurant, and when I told him my son had thrown up in the middle of the night his first response was to ask "how is he doing, does he feel better?". In general it just felt that the hotel strove for excellence in anything they did. We hope to be back in the future. Oh, the hotel has a large parking area, and the area (near the Rhine) is very scenic.
