"We took the JR from Ueno to Oishida Station, and there was a shuttle bus from the inn staff to pick us up right out of the gate, which was super good. Go to the hot spring lobby, at 2 pm, but check-in and pick up the room to 3 pm, so I ground outside the inn, see what to eat, 5 minutes walk will walk to the spot of the photo spot. It was super beautiful, plus it was snowing, just right. There are only 2 shops with food at the photo spot, one is super crowded, the other doesn't open until 3:30 pm, so it's best to eat something before going.
