Property Description
This two bedroom house is situated on a 1.3 acre lot, located right off Maryland 51. This house was built in the 1960's and its age is still evident in features like the original hardwood flood. Much of the interior has been updated and we are excited to offer the house to you as our guests.
You will have the property to yourself. Guests have access to the entire main floor. Enjoy the yard surrounding the house as well. The basement and detached garage are not available for guest use at this time.
The kitchen, with all new appliances, has been stocked with the basic things (pots, pans, utensils, etc) you need to cook a meal. If you prefer to go out for meals there are a couple small town options, a favorite being the subs from Millstone Country Store just 4 miles up the road and lots more options in the Cumberland area, about 20 minutes away.
There is a small workspace in the second bedroom for those working away from home. There is Starlink internet access to keep you connected during your stay.
You're welcome to enjoy the fire pit area in the backyard. Firewood and kindling are provided.
If you need to do laundry, we can allow access to the washer and dryer upon special request.
We enjoy hosting guests who are biking on the towpath. The Oldtown access point is just a couple miles from our house, but there is a busy road without much of a shoulder between the access point and our house. Please feel free to message me about shuttle and food options.
So whether you're just passing through or in the area to explore local attractions, this is a great resting spot. The Paw Paw tunnel, historic downtown Cumberland, C&O canal towpath, and more are all located within 15 miles. There's hiking, biking, canoeing, and fishing options within a few miles of the house or stay at the house and enjoy a quiet getaway. There's a few books, games, and a roku tv for your use. The tv will be guest mode to allow you to login to any of your subscriptions and conveniently choose a date on which you will be logged out. There is a doorbell security camera on the porch at the back door entrance.About pets:No pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About customRules:No smoking of any kind is allowed in the house or anywhere on the premises..About checkIn:Check in after 4:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 21.About events:No events allowed.

Wonderful, clean home with a gracious host. Only issue was the beds. They were rock hard; we didnt sleep much on this trip.

Peaceful getaway
A fantastic place to stay in the Oldtown/Cumberland area. The house is super cute and very convenient to Oldtown and the C&O Canal, and it’s an easy drive into Cumberland if needed. Everything was peaceful and the countryside is very pretty. Also our host was great; no problems. Would stay here again!

Great Getaway!
What a wonderful hidden treasure! This great house is super clean and comfortable. Updated kitchen made meals easy. Spacious updated bathroom with dual sinks. Comfortable living and dining room area. The house sits up on a hill and is quiet. Oldtown is a quiet small town and a great place to get away from it all and enjoy the simpler things. This retreat is the perfect place to stay while visiting the area for all of the outdoor activities or for a quiet place to get some work done. Will definitely be returning here. Hosts were very responsive and made an extended stay here very successful. Thank you!

Beautiful Space!
We greatly enjoyed our time at the Old Town Guesthouse! The owner was extremely responsive and generous. The homemade cookies were a great touch! We had to reschedule our trip at the last minute and she was so understanding and helped us find another time to visit and add a night to our trip! Not only was the customer support excellent, but the space was beautiful, clean, well maintained, and well stocked with everything you could possibly need! The location might not be for everyone since it's about 15 minutes from Cumberland, but as someone familiar with the area, I found it to be peacefully isolated and still close enough to civilization by Western Maryland terms.I highly recommend this listing if you want a peaceful getaway!

Oldtown guest house
My friend and I were biking the GAP-C&O trail from PIT to DC and stayed here just one night on 10/15/24. Rachel was very helpful in directions to the house. She also dropped off laundry detergent so we could do a wash. The house was very clean with nice accommodations, including freshly baked cookies! Would highly recommend. If you are biking from the trail, note that the road to the house is busy with traffic and speed limit 50 mi/hr. Also, there's only one restaurant in town, the School house restaurant which closes fairly early at night.

Perfect get away
Great place to stay. Location was great for our visits to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad. Host prepared a welcoming, well appointed home for our stay. Very clean and well maintained.
