Gorgeous room. Such a traditional building. Our favourite part was taking our wine onto the rooftop veranda every night to watch the sun go down and the world go by. The breakfast here is also the best I have had in Portugal. Fresh fruit, yoghurts, pastries, eggs, nuts, homemade cakes and press your own fresh orange juices, fresh coffee and a range of teas, spoilt for choice and set us all the way up until the evening! We also borrowed a parasol and picnic blanket. We packed light and had everything we needed, its a home away from home so everything you need, you can find in the house to borrow- iron, bottle opener, all the cooking utensils and servers to cook for yourself … everything is here. Will return! Oh and speak with the managers about the house, it has a fascinating history and the modern decor is all connected to it.

GuestMar is a Home away from Home as everyone is extremely nice and helpful. Both staff and other guests, which us Special. Super beautiful rooms with with love for details, a rooftop and fabulous, fresh breakfast. All day Tea, coffee, freshly baked cake and fruits 🙂

Magnificent stay for 3 nights. Warm & welcoming stay by the owners. We loved the open kitchen throughout the day - so nice to be able to come back after sightseeing to make a cup of tea and have a slice of fabulous homemade cake. The location is about 5 minutes from central Olhao but lovely off the beaten track bars, and restaurants. Highly recommend

If you are looking for a wonderful, authentic stay in a lovely Portugese town, Guest Mar is the place. You will open the door to beautifully finished stairs and a completely stocked breakfast room. The rooms are comfortable, the breakfast is a lovely spread but, most of all, the host is worth the whole visit. He told us where to travel, all the best spots to stop at in the Algave, where to dine, not to forget the market on Saturday and we just loved him and wished he could travel with us! We missed him when we left! It might look out of the way but, you’ll see.. here are the quiet, cobblestone streets and little shops and river walkway that you are looking for!!! Guest Mar was absolutely fantastic. We were so looked after. The hotel is in a quiet area however it is less than 5 minute walk to the market hall and the marina. Within the hotel the bed was very comfortable. The roof terrace was lovely to watch the sunset with a bottle of wine. We stayed on the top floor with direct access to the roof terrace and between 2200hrs -1000hrs that room has exclusive use of the roof terrace which was nice. Breakfast was divine and the complimentary items were a lovely kind touch. Guests have use of the kitchen and the appliances are all so modern and I now have kitchen envy! I will be recommending this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Olhao. I would rate it more than 5 stars if I could. The building has been refurbished to a very high standard. Pleasure staying at this property.

Stayed there from 19 - 23 May having booked via airline website. I'm glad I did. The building inside and out is beautiful with lots of character and has been renovated to a high standard tastefully (in keeping with its history and location). I understand all bedrooms are air conditioned. There is a rooftop terrace which guests can use from 10.00- 22.00. Joao and Riccado will make you feel welcome - there was a problem with my reservation because despite me booking and paying via the Ryanair website Joao had not been informed so he knew nothing about me until I arrived! Despite the problem with the booking Joao manged to accommodate me in two different rooms during my stay which was actually quite nice. Joao and Riccardo are both very well informed about "what" and "where" in and around Olhao and were always willing to help when asked for advice or help. Breakfast is simple and filling in the light and airy "sala de jantar" on the ground floor. Guests can cook if they want in the dining room. The only thing I would say is there are lot of stairs in the building so you really need to be physically fit to stay here. I hope to return soon. Obrigado por tudo Joao and Riccardo!
